Secret Chords…..the chords that the books don’t tell you about…. I’m sure I’m not the only one who loves finding secret chords….chords in positions up the uke neck that don’t seem to be in the books. They aren’t the usual moveable barre chords or chords that involve fingering of each of the four strings. They have open strings that are sympathetic to the overall chord structure. Now I’m no great theorist, and I can’t give the exact names of these beauties…..but I know what sounds OK! They can be used to great effect with conventional “up the neck chords” (that is, the ones you find in books!) to give colour. I hope to be adding to this section as I get my “discoveries” noted down. I’d love to hear of others – please share any secret gems you have come across with me. Of course, you could direct me to a place that already has all these chords noted down….but where is the fun in that??
