ERAS Minutes October Monthly Meeting 9/27/11 (Please print a copy for your records, as there are a lot of dates and deadlines in this Newsletter. You can also find a copy on the ERAS.com web site.) Betsy and Denny introduced our speaker Vickie Mike, who started us off with an invigorating, informative and fun presentation on Creativity. Vickie started her art career after retirement from teaching. She has found her voice as a digital artist and a motivational speaker. Kudos: Regional Exhibit at the Arnot Art Museum: To Denny Smith and Tess Danaher for being selected to show, Tess won the Community Foundation Award. Emily Solometo won the ERAS award for Excellence. Tedd Arnold will have a solo show of his art at CCC, opening Nov 4th. Jackie Satterlee has been selected to have a solo show at Elmira College in March for the Festival of Women in the Arts. Congratulations to Betsy Kent, Diane Jenowski and Gretchen Halpert and Vickie Mike for participating in the MAKING HISTORY exhibit at the CC Historical Society which was a wonderful exhibit of local artists shown last month.

Calendars: Jackie Satterlee will be making a Calendar of the 75th Palette Award Show (2010). If you are interested in an ERAS Calendar Please contact her ASAP if you would like one, as only 30 copies will be available. Purchase will be $15. Profits will go to ERAS to help with the palette award costs. Treasurer Report – Alain Goyette reminds us DUES must be paid to participate in the Palette Exhibit. PALETTE AWARD SHOW Jeannine Stone reminded us of new rules for exhibiting at the Palette Awards  

You must have done 3 exhibits in the past year ERAS dues must be paid up  If you are not an Arnot Art Museum member there is now a $15 entrance fee –due when paintings brought for the exhibit Make your check out to ERAS  Enter 2 paintings if 36” or less, if greater than 36” then only one painting *  Current work created within the past 2 years, and must be original  No repeat entries *  Sculpture less than 100 lbs.*  Properly framed, matted, equipped with eye screws and wire AAM will receive 40% commission if work is sold AAM collects payment and tax, artist will receive a check for 60%

Intake: November 18th and 19th : (Friday and Saturday) Deliver art work to the Arnot Art Museum from 10:00 to 1:00 Friday – Ray Coover/Joyce Schwartz Saturday - Chris Thorborg /Jackie Satterlee Nov. 20th to 24th – installation of paintings Nov. 26th – (Saturday) Jurors (Jean Stephens and Dan Roemelt) November 29th – Show opens to the public *December 1st – (Thursday) – OPENING RECEPTION 5:00 TO 7:00 Food – Teresa Thomas - everyone bring something for snacks please Music - Bill Grooms December 29th – Exhibit closes January 6th and 7th – Pick up art work from 10:00 to 1:00

APPLE RIDGE IS HOSTING AN OPENING FOR OUR ERAS EXHIBITS. November 10, 2011 THURS. AT 3:00 pm   

ALL ELMIRA REGIONAL ART SOCIETY MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. THE OPENING WILL BE WITH WINE, CRACKERS AND CHEESE FOR ALL. YOU MAY ALSO BRING A FRIEND OR FAMILY. PLEASE RESPOND TO JEANNINE BY NOV. 7TH

I also want to thank Betsy, Jackie and Joyce for all the help that you have given me at both the Airport and Apple Ridge. It is truly appreciated. APPLERIDGE CHRISTMAS CRAFT SHOW: Saturday December 3rd 10:00 TO 2:00 pm (Set up at 8:00-9:30 am) ALL ARTISTS WHO WANT TO ENTER SMALL PAINTINGS OR OTHER CRAFTS THAT YOU DO, LIKE: JEWELRY SMALL PAINTED ITEMS PAINTED CHRISTMAS CARDS CHRISTMAS BALLS, ETC WE HAVE RENTED TWO SPACES FOR THIS, PLUS WE WILL HAVE RACKS FOR PAINTINGS YOU WILL NEED YOUR BUSINESS CARD WITH PRICE IN FRONT ON THESE PAINTINGS AND PRICE TAGS FOR ITEMS. IF YOU ARE ENTERING AN EXHIBIT, THEN YOU SHOULD PLAN ON STAYING TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN ITEMS FOR SALE.

The Apple Ridge director told us they had a lot of people for this show last year. PLEASE NOTE: All artists who have paintings on the wall at Apple Ridge already will be included in the show. There will be a sign for anyone who wishes to purchase a wall painting. We will then tell them the price and how to contact the artist. ERAS Next Show at Appleridge: January and February –. Contact Jeannine if you are interested in exhibiting for Jan/Feb. 4 to 5 small paintings or 3 large one. No prices on the paintings so bring a sheet with titles and prices. Sign ups for Dec. and Jan. We need exhibitors at St. Joe’s and Katie’s Café. Contact Jeannine. Workshop possibility – Denny Smith asked if there would be interest in having Betsie Parks do a 3 hour workshop on selling your art work sometime. She is an artist and owner of the shop/gallery 15 Steps located on the Ithaca Commons.
