4. A screen will appear stating that Windows 95 was unable to locate the driver. Click Other Locations to enter the driver’s location manually.

Overview After installing the EtherFast® 10/100 LAN Card in your PC, follow these instructions to install the card’s driver. For troubleshooting tips during setup, please contact Linksys technical support.

Windows 95 Quick Installation 1. Start up your PC in Windows 95.

Note: Do not click Cancel or Skip at any time during the installation. Doing so will prevent the driver from being properly installed on your PC.

2. Windows 95 will automatically detect the EtherFast® 10/100 LAN Card in your PC. The Update Device Driver Wizard window (below) or a similar window will appear.

5. Type the driver location, D:\Drivers\WIN95, in the location field on the Select Other Location Screen. Then, click OK.

3. Insert the “Linksys Setup Utility” CD into your CD-ROM drive. Click Next.

6. Windows will show that the files have been found. Verify that the Setup Utility CD is in your CD-ROM drive and click Finish to continue.

Windows 98 Quick Installation 1. Start up your PC in Windows 98.

Note: Do not click Cancel or Skip at any time during the installation. Doing so will prevent the driver from being properly installed on your PC.

2. Windows 98 will automatically detect the presence of the EtherFast® Card in your PC. 3. Insert the “Linksys Setup Utility” CD into your CD-ROM drive while the Add New Hardware Wizard (in English) window is visible. Click Next. 4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)” and click Next.

7. The following screen will prompt you for the driver location. In the Copy Files From: field, type D:\Drivers\WIN95. Then, click OK.

8. Windows 95 will begin copying files to your PC. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the floppy disk and click Yes.

The Etherfast® 10/100 LAN Card has been installed successfully.

5. Select "Specify a location" and type “D:\Drivers\WIN98” in the drop-down box. Then, click Next.

8. If Windows asks you to supply any drivers beginning with “lne” or “netlne”, re-direct Windows to your floppy drive (D:\Drivers\WIN98). 9. Windows will finish installing the software onto your PC. Click Finish.

6. A window will open, notifying you that Windows is searching for the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter driver. When the window notifies you that it is ready to install the driver, click Next. 10. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the CD-ROM from your PC and click Yes. If Windows does not prompt you to restart, do so manually. Click the Start button, then click Shutdown, and choose the Restart option. Then, click OK. The Etherfast® 10/100 LAN Card has been installed successfully.

7. Windows 98 will begin copying the EtherFast® Card’s driver files onto your PC. If an “Insert Disk” box appears requesting Windows 98 files, click OK and direct Windows to the proper location of the files, e.g., D:\win98 (insert the windows CD into your CD-ROM if directing Windows to your Windows CD) or c:\windows\options\cabs. 8

Windows ME Quick Installation 1. Start up your PC in Windows Millennium.

Note: Do not click Cancel or Skip at any time during the installation. Doing so will prevent the driver from being properly installed on your PC.

5. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)” and select "Specify a location". Then, type “D:\Drivers\WINME” in the drop-down box and click Next.

2. Windows ME will automatically detect the presence of the PCI Ethernet Controller hardware in your PC. 3. Insert the “Linksys LNE100TX (ver. 5) Fast Ethernet Adapter Drivers” CD into your CD-ROM drive while the Add New Hardware Wizard (in English) window is visible. Click Next. 4. Select "Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)” and click Next.

6. A window will open, notifying you that Windows is searching for the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter driver. When the window notifies you that it is ready to install the driver, click Next.

7. Windows Millennium will begin copying the EtherFast® Card’s driver files onto your PC. Have your Windows Millennium CD available. If an “Insert Disk” box appears requesting Windows Millennium files, click OK and direct Windows to the proper location of the files, e.g., D:\win9x (insert the Windows CD into your CD-ROM if directing Windows to your Windows CD) or c:\windows\options\cabs. 11

8. If Windows asks you to supply any drivers beginning with “lne” or “netlne”, make sure the Linksys Setup Utility CD is in the CD-ROM drive and redirect Windows to your CD-ROM drive (D:\Drivers\WINME, where “D” represents your CD-ROM drive). 9. Windows will finish installing the software onto your PC. Click Finish.

Windows NT Quick Installation The following steps are for NT PCs that have networking already installed according to the Windows NT documentation. If you have not already installed networking onto your NT PC, please refer to your Windows documentation. These steps will install the EtherFast® Card’s driver software on your PC, enabling your PC to properly communicate with the card. Remember that you must be logged on as a network administrator to continue. 1. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, then double-click on the Network icon. 2. When the networking window appears, choose the Adapters tab. Click Add.

10. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the CD-ROM from your PC and click Yes. If Windows does not prompt you to restart, do so manually. Click the Start button, then click Shutdown, and choose the Restart option and click OK. Your Etherfast® 10/100 LAN Card has been installed successfully.

3. When the list of available network adapters appears, click the Have Disk button.

6. When NT asks you for the media type. Choose the AutoSense option. When finished, click on Continue. Then, click Close.

7. If Windows NT asks you to supply your original Windows NT CD-ROM or setup disks, direct Windows NT to the proper location (most likely D:\i386).

4. Put the “Linksys Setup Utility” CD into your CD-ROM drive. Type A:\ into the box on your screen and click OK.

8. Click on the Protocols tab. Add any protocols you require by clicking the Add button. (Refer to your Microsoft documentation if you have any questions on adding protocols.) 9. After your bindings, settings, and services are set, click the Close button.

5. Highlight the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TX v5) entry in the window that appears. Click OK.

10. Remove your Driver Disk and CD-ROM and click Yes to restart your PC.

Windows 2000 Quick Installation 1. Start your Windows 2000 PC.

Note: Do not click Cancel or Skip at any time during the installation. Doing so will prevent the driver from being properly installed on your PC.

2. Windows will display the Found New Hardware Wizard (in English) box. Click Next. 11. Once your PC has rebooted, double-click the Network Neighborhood icon on your desktop. Make sure that you have access to the network. If you do, your card has been properly installed.

3. The Install Hardware Device Drivers dialog box will appear. When Ethernet Controller is displayed, select “Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended).” Click Next.

• If you had previously installed any NT service packs, you must re-install them. Otherwise, you may receive Not Enough Service Storage Space errors in the Event Viewer. • If you need to install the TCP/IP protocol, refer to your system administrator or your Windows NT documentation. Linksys does not provide technical support for the configuration or troubleshooting of the TCP/IP protocol. The Windows NT Installation and Setup of the EtherFast® 10/100 LAN Card is complete.

4. The Locate Driver Files dialog box will appear. Select “Specify a location.” Click Next.

6. The Driver File Search Results dialog box will appear. Click Next.

7. The Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard (in English) dialog box will appear. Click Finish. 5. When the Found New Hardware Wizard (in English) box appears, insert the “Linksys Setup Utility” CD into your CD-ROM drive. In the “Copy manufacturer’s files from“ field, type “D:\Drivers\WIN2000.” Click OK.

8. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the CD-ROM from your PC and click Yes. If Windows does not prompt you to restart, do so manually. Installation is now complete. If you want to share files or printers, see your Windows 2000 documentation. 18

Windows XP Quick Installation Windows XP has a built-in LNE100TX NIC driver. After physically installing the EtherFast 10/100 LAN Card into your PC, Windows XP will automatically install the LNE100TX driver. The device driver may identify the LAN Card as version 4.1. Use this quick installation to update the built-in driver that ships with Windows XP.

5. Click the Driver tab and select Update driver... to update the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter Driver.

If you want to use the new driver on the LNE100TX(v5.1) driver CD, you must update the driver for this device. 1. Power up your PC and start Windows XP. 2. Click Start and open the Control Panel. Double-click on the Performance and Maintenance icon. 3. Double-click on the System icon. Select the Hardware item. 4. Click Device Manager and select Network Adapters. Double-click on the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TX v4) item. 6. The Hardware Update Wizard (in English) dialog box will appear. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next.

7. Select Search for the best driver in these locations. Then select Include this location in the search:.

8. Enter the driver pathname (e.g., D:\Drivers\WinXP) in the field. Click Next. 3. When the Completing the Hardware Update Wizard (in English) dialog box is shown, the screen will show the following adapter name: Linksys LNE100TX v5 Fast Ethernet Adapter Click Finish to complete the installation.

Installation is now complete.

Après avoir installé la carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps EtherFast® dans l'ordinateur, suivre les instructions ci-dessous pour installer son pilote.

Sélectionner Spécifier l' emplacement du pilote (avancé), puis cliquer sur Suivant.

6. Une fenêtre s'affiche pour indiquer que Windows recherche le pilote Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter. Lorsque cette fenêtre signale que Windows est prêt à installer le pilote, cliquer sur Suivant.

7. Windows Millennium commence alors à copier les fichiers de pilote de la carte EtherFast® sur l'ordinateur. Tenir le disque de Windows Millennium sous la main. Si une fenêtre s'affiche pour demander l'insertion d'un disque contenant certains fichiers de Windows Millennium, cliquer sur OK et indiquer le chemin d'accès à ces fichiers ; il peut s'agir par exemple de D:\win9x (si le chemin d'accès indiqué correspond au disque d'installation de Windows, insérer celui-ci dans le lecteur de CDROM) ou de C:\windows\options\cabs. 33

Si Windows demande de fournir des pilotes dont le nom commence par " lne " ou " netlne ", vérifier que le disque Linksys Setup Utility se trouve dans le lecteur de CD-ROM et indiquer le chemin d'accès correspondant (D:\Drivers\WINME, où la lettre " D " représente le lecteur de CD-ROM). 9. Windows finit alors d'installer le logiciel sur l'ordinateur. Cliquer sur Terminer.

Installation rapide sous Windows NT Les étapes ci-dessous sont destinées aux ordinateurs fonctionnant sous Windows NT dont les fonctions de mise en réseau sont déjà installées conformément à la documentation de ce système d'exploitation. Si les composants de mise en réseau ne sont pas encore installés sur l'ordinateur, se reporter à la documentation de Windows NT. Les étapes suivantes consistent à installer le logiciel pilote de la carte EtherFast® sur l'ordinateur pour qu'il puisse communiquer correctement avec celle-ci. Il faut avoir ouvert une session comme administrateur réseau pour pouvoir continuer. 1. Cliquer sur Démarrer, Paramètres et Panneau de configuration, puis cliquer deux fois sur l'icône Réseau. 2. Lorsque la fenêtre des paramètres réseau apparaît, sélectionner l'onglet Cartes, puis cliquer sur Ajouter.

10. Lorsque Windows demande de redémarrer l'ordinateur, retirer le CD-ROM du lecteur et cliquer sur Oui. Si Windows ne demande pas de redémarrer le système, le faire manuellement. Cliquer sur le bouton Démarrer, cliquer sur Arrêter, sélectionner l'option Redémarrer, puis cliquer sur OK L'installation de la carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps EtherFast® est alors terminée.

Série EtherFast ® 3. Lorsque la liste des cartes réseau disponibles s'affiche, cliquer sur le bouton Disquette fournie.

Carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps 6. Lorsque Windows NT demande d'indiquer le type de support, sélectionner l'option AutoSense (Autodétection), puis cliquer sur Continuer et sur Fermer.

7. Si Windows NT demande de fournir le CD-ROM ou les disquettes d'installation d'origine du système d'exploitation, indiquer le chemin d'accès correspondant (très probablement D:\i386).

4. Insérer le disque Linksys Setup Utility dans le lecteur de CD-ROM. Taper D:\Drivers dans la zone de saisie, puis cliquer sur OK.

Cliquer sur l'onglet Protocoles, puis sur le bouton Ajouter pour ajouter tous les protocoles requis (pour toute question concernant l'ajout de protocoles, se reporter à la documentation de Microsoft). 9. Après avoir établi les liaisons, les paramètres et les services voulus, cliquer sur le bouton Fermer. 5. Sélectionner Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TX v5) dans la fenêtre qui s'affiche, puis cliquer sur OK.

11. Une fois que l'ordinateur a redémarré, cliquer deux fois sur l'icône Voisinage réseau du bureau. Vérifier que l'ordinateur a accès au réseau. Si c'est le cas, la carte est correctement installée.

Installation rapide sous Windows 2000 Remarque : Ne pas cliquer sur Annuler ou Ignorer pendant l'installation. Cela empêcherait l'installation correcte du pilote sur l'ordinateur.

Démarrer l'ordinateur sous Windows 2000.

2.

Windows affiche la boîte de dialogue Assistant Matériel détecté. Cliquer sur Suivant.

La boîte de dialogue Installation de pilotes de périphériques matériels s'affiche. Lorsque Ethernet Controller s'affiche, sélectionner Rechercher un pilote approprié pour mon périphérique (recommandé). Cliquer sur Suivant.

• Si des mises à jour (Service Packs) de Windows NT ont préalablement été installées sur l'ordinateur, il faut les réinstaller. Sinon, des messages d'erreur du type « Espace insuffisant pour le stockage des services » risquent d'apparaître dans l'Observateur d'événements. • Lorsqu'il est nécessaire d'installer le protocole TCP/IP, consulter l'administrateur du système ou la documentation de Windows NT. Linksys ne fournit pas d'assistance technique pour la configuration ou la mise au point du protocole TCP/IP. L'installation et la configuration de la carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps EtherFast® sous Windows NT sont alors terminées.

Installation rapide sous Windows XP Windows XP comprend un pilote intégré pour l'adapteur réseau LNE100TX. Une fois que la carte réseau 10/100 Mbps Etherfast® est installée dans l'ordinateur, Windows XP installe automatiquement le pilote LNE100TX. Ce dernier reconnaîtra peut-être l'adaptateur réseau comme s'il s'agissait de la version 4.1. Ce guide d'installation rapide présente les étapes de mise à jour du pilote inclus dans Windows XP.

7. Windows 98 beginnt mit dem Kopieren der Treiberdateien für die EtherFast® Karte auf den PC. Wenn in einem Dialogfeld (Datenträger einlegen) Windows 98-Dateien angefordert werden, klicken Sie auf OK, und geben Sie Windows den richtigen Pfad an, beispielsweise D:\win98 (wenn Sie die Windows-CD angeben, legen Sie die Windows-CD in Ihr CD-ROM-Laufwerk ein) oder C:\Windows\Options\CABs. 52

Kurzinstallationsanleitung für Windows NT Die folgenden Schritte gelten für Windows NT-Computer, auf denen das Netzwerk gemäß der Windows NT-Dokumentation bereits eingerichtet ist. Ist das Netzwerk auf dem Windows NT-Computer noch nicht eingerichtet, ziehen Sie die Windows NTDokumentation hinzu. Mit den folgenden Schritten wird die Treibersoftware der EtherFast®-Karte auf dem PC installiert und somit die Kommunikation des PC mit der Karte ermöglicht. Beachten Sie, dass Sie als Netzwerkadministrator angemeldet sein müssen, um fortzufahren. 1. Klicken Sie auf Start, Einstellungen, Systemsteuerung, und doppelklicken Sie anschließend auf das Symbol Netzwerk. 2. Wählen Sie die Registerkarte Netzwerkkarte im Fenster Netzwerk aus. Klicken Sie auf Hinzufügen.

Windows startet den Assistenten für das Suchen neuer Hardware. Klicken Sie auf Weiter.

Das Dialogfeld Hardwaretreiber installieren wird angezeigt. Wenn Ethernet Controller angezeigt wird, wählen Sie „Nach einem passenden Treiber für das Gerät suchen (empfohlen)“. Klicken Sie auf Weiter.

• Wenn Sie zuvor ein NT-Service Pack installiert hatten, müssen Sie dies erneut installieren. Andernfalls erhalten Sie u. U. im Ereignisprotokoll Fehler wegen unzureichendem Speicherplatz für Dienste. • Wenn Sie das TCP/IP-Protokoll neu installieren müssen, ziehen Sie den Systemadministrator oder die Windows NT-Dokumentation hinzu. Linksys bietet keine technische Unterstützung für die Konfiguration des TCP/IP-Protokolls oder für die Fehlerbehebung an. Die Windows NT-Installation und -Einrichtung der EtherFast® 10/100 LAN-Karte ist damit abgeschlossen.

Kurzinstallationsanleitung für Windows XP In Windows XP ist ein Netzwerkkartentreiber für die LNE100TX-Netzwerkkarte integriert. Installieren Sie zunächst die EtherFast® 10/100-LAN-Karte in Ihrem PC. Windows XP installiert dann den entsprechenden LNE100TX-Treiber automatisch. Möglicherweise identifiziert der Treiber die Version 4.1 der LAN-Karte. Verwenden Sie diese Kurzinstallationsanleitung, um den in Windows XP enthaltenen Treiber zu aktualisieren. Falls Sie den auf der Treiberdiskette „LNE100TX(v5.1)“ enthaltenen neuen Treiber verwenden möchten, müssen Sie den Treiber für dieses Gerät aktualisieren.

10/100 LAN-Karte 5. Klicken Sie auf die Registerkarte Treiber und anschließend auf die Schaltfläche Aktualisieren, um den Treiber „Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter“ zu aktualisieren.

Aparecerá una pantalla que indicará que Windows 95 no pudo localizar el controlador. Haga clic en Otras ubicaciones para introducir manualmente la ubicación del controlador.

2. Windows 98 detectará automáticamente la presencia de la tarjeta EtherFast® en su PC. 3. 2. Windows ME detectará automáticamente la presencia del hardware del controlador PCI Ethernet en su PC. 3. Instalación rápida para Windows NT Los pasos siguientes son para los PC NT que han sido ya conectados en red de acuerdo con la documentación de Windows NT. Si no ha instalado ya la conexión en red en su PC NT, consulte la documentación de Windows. Con estos pasos, se instalará el software del controlador de la tarjeta EtherFast® en su PC, para permitir que este último se comunique correctamente con la tarjeta. Recuerde que debe iniciar la sesión como administrador de red para continuar. 1. Haga clic en Inicio, Parámetros, Panel de control, y luego haga doble clic en el icono Red. 2. Cuando aparezca la ventana de conexión en red, elija la ficha Adaptadores. Haga clic en Agregar.

10. Cuando el sistema pregunte si desea reiniciar su PC, retire el CD-ROM y haga clic en Sí. Si Windows no solicita que reinicie el sistema, hágalo manualmente. Haga clic en el botón Iniciar, luego en Apagar, elija la opción Reiniciar y haga clic en Aceptar. De esta forma se ha instalado satisfactoriamente su tarjeta de LAN 10/100 Etherfast®. 7. Si Windows NT le solicita que suministre su CD-ROM o los discos de configuración originales de Windows NT, dirija a Windows NT hasta la ubicación correcta (la más probable es D:\i386).

Inicie su PC en Windows 2000.

Windows mostrará el cuadro Asistente para hardware nuevo encontrado. Haga clic en Siguiente.

Aparecerá el cuadro de dialogo Instalar controladores de dispositivos de hardware. Cuando el sistema muestre Controlador Ethernet, seleccione Buscar un controlador apropiado para mi dispositivo (recomendado). Haga clic en Siguiente.

• Si ha instalado previamente algún paquete de servicios NT, debe reinstalarlo. De lo contrario, puede recibir errores como No hay suficiente espacio de almacenamiento en el Visor de eventos. • Si necesita instalar el protocolo TCP/IP, consulte a su administrador del sistema o la documentación de Windows NT. Linksys no proporciona apoyo técnico para la configuración o resolución de problemas del protocolo TCP/IP. De esta forma se completa la instalación y configuración de la tarjeta de LAN 10/100 EtherFast® para Windows NT.

Instalación rápida para Windows XP Windows XP tiene un controlador LNE100TX NIC incorporado. Después de instalar físicamente la tarjetade LAN 10/100 EtherFast® en su PC, Windows XP instalará el controlador LNE100TX automáticamente. Es posible que el controlador de dispositivo identifique la Tarjeta de LAN como de la versión 4.1. Utilice esta instalación rápida para actualizar el controlador incorporado proporcionado con Windows XP. Si desea utilizar el nuevo controlador con el disquete del controlador LNE100TX (v5.1), debe actualizar el controlador para este dispositivo.
