Program 4 New / новый Back to the USSR 36 Hours with Eclipse-City to Siberia Eclipse-City is happy to announce its revised eclipse-program in Siberia. Our fourth 2008 eclipse program will take you to Novosibirsk (Russia). This Program is our shortest program and therefore intended especially for travelers with time constraints. Our journey will begin in Frankfurt (Germany). You will board one of our chartered Eclipse Clippers and fly directly into Novosibirsk, Russia’s third largest city and the largest city in Siberia, right on the eclipse centerline. When arriving at Novosibirsk, we will tour you through Novosibirsk and head for our specially built Eclipse-City Day Camp. The location is stunning and only there for us. 2 minutes and 20 Seconds of totality at our specially built day camp ashore Novosibirskoje Vodochranilsce, just one hour away from Novosibirsk. After the eclipse, we have prepared a Gala Dinner and Performance, festively arranged for Eclipse City to celebrate this unique event in an historic atmosphere. Eclipse City´s guests for years already consist of a broad community of scientists, hobby-astronomers, representatives of the local business communities, and interested people from all over the world. Eclipse-City will host local VIPs, such as Novosibirsk’s Governor, Mr. Viktor Tolokonsky or German Consul General, Mr. Michael Cantzler on its Day Camp. Throughout the event, you will be accompanied by our multilingual staff, international astronomy experts, and of course, bilingual local guides. Depending on ATC permits, we may arrive at midnight back in Germany or early morning of August 2nd. If we have to stay through the morning hours of August 2nd, you will overnight in dedicated locations which Eclipse City has preventively organized for you. Thursday, July 31st 2008 – The Adventure Begins Our departure is from Frankfurt /Germany, where we will leave on Thursday July 31st 2008 late afternoon on our special Eclipse Clipper, with direct flight to Novosibirsk. We will arrive at Novosibirsk Airport on Friday August 1st, early in the morning.
Friday, August 1st 2008 – Eclipse Day: 2 Minutes and 20 Seconds of Totality Novosibirsk, formerly Novonikolayevsk after Tsar Nicholas II, is the capital of the Novosibirsk Oblast, in southern Siberia Russia, located on the Ob' River. Novosibirsk is the largest city and one of the chief industrial centers of Siberia. Manufactures include mining equipment, turbines, textiles, chemicals, and heavy machine tools. It is the seat of a university and a scientific research center and has opera and ballet companies. The city, founded in 1893 as a stop on the Trans-Siberian Railroad, received its current name in 1925. During World War II (1939-45) many industries were moved to Novosibirsk from the combat areas of European USSR. While inspecting our viewing location, Eclipse-City directors met with the local vice-governor, diplomatic representatives, local tourism development officials and, Novosibirsk University Astrophysics directors. One hour’s drive from the city centre, on an enclave ashore the lake, we found our magic place. At the Eclipse-City Day camp, you will have it all: sufficient space, quietness and unpolluted air. Now you want to find your own spot. There is ample of space at Eclipse-City grounds ashore the lake. Enjoy 2 minutes and 20 seconds of totality with reasonably good weather prospects.

Then you can prepare to enjoy our Eclipse Gala Dinner and Siberian Summer Show A delicious, varied and beautifully arranged Gala Buffet will be awaiting you. Local and international VIPs are expected at Eclipse-City. Find your friends or make new ones and enjoy our Gala Show in this magnificent location: Russian singers and artists will close down our fantastic day. If we have to stay through the morning hours of August 2nd, you will overnight in dedicated locations which Eclipse City has preventively organized for you. If we are arriving at midnight in Frankfurt and you can not connect to your final destination, we will provide overnight facilities.
Saturday, August 2nd 2008 – Farewell Due to ATC, we may have to leave back to Germany on Midnight, between August 1st and August 2nd or in the morning hours of August 2nd. We anticipate to arrive before noon at Frankfurt International Airport, where you may connect to your home destinations. 36 hours of pure excitement will remain in your dreams.

Meals Regardless of the package you have booked, all Eclipse-City guests will be provided with full board.
Transport to and from Eclipse-City Eclipse-City will provide for full transport with state-of-the-art local transport. If you require a special "out of program schedule" transport to/from the viewing site, please request it in writing to
[email protected]. We will try to satisfy all your special requirements. A kerosene surcharge has been applied to this new program.
Security and personal safety Your security and personal safety is our primary duty! What have we done so far and what can you expect: Before issuing this program, we have made sure to have Novosibirsk Secretaries of Tourism officially endorsing our program. Eclipse-City is expecting and prepared to see and receive other eclipse-viewing visitors. Everyone else not registered at Eclipse-City, will not be permitted nor have physical access to the EclipseCity grounds. Private security services will be guarding the camp, our guests and all your valuables. Eclipse-City is prepared to treat minor emergencies in a special conditioned medical tent, including specialized staff. Included in your package are complimentary medical treatments, such as sunburn, insect bites, gastro-intestinal disturbances.
