Aga Batyr, USSR, November 30th 1942 Story : The Cossack cavalry Regiment of Colonel Von Jungschulz is one of the units that must protect the flank north of Army Group A engaged in the Caucasus area. Formed with ex-war prisoners, deserters and volunteers all having a great hate towards the Soviet system, the regiment is equipped with captured weapons and supervised by German officers. As soon as summer 1942, it leads several operations in the Nogaï steppes beside panzers and often confronts Russian cavalry units. It accomplishes its missions with success and efficiently patrols in a large sector. But, late November, after the first successes around Stalingrad, the soviet troops from the Transcaucasian front, reinforced by new well equipped units, take the offensive to cut the retreat roads of Army Group A. On November 30th, the 44th Soviet Army attacks, its vanguard being 2 Cavalry Guard Corps supported by infantry battalions and armoured brigades. The Cossacks of Von Jungschulz push back the cavalrymen of the 5th Guard Corps with the help of some elements of the 3. Panzer Division, which destroys several M5 Stuarts. But three days later the Russians take the advantage and break the front. The Germans must then retreat to Rostov. In spring 1943, the Von Jungschulz leaves the front to be part of the 1st Cossack Division.
