myiHome : pronounce as mai-home myiHome delivers all the media files stored in your PC through your home entertainment system. Watching your digitized movies, enjoy your mp3s, view your photos, all from the comfort of your couch. myiHome specially created for TV with its well-designed and easy-to-use interface, you can now navigate all your media and content on your TV screen, with clicks!

1. Insert myiHome installation CD into CD-Rom. Double-click the myiHome folder and the folder will open as shown above. 2. To install myiHome, just double-click setup icon and follow the instructions on the setup wizard.

Important Note:

For users running on Microsoft Windows XP SP2, choose to Unblock the program, to allow myiHome to access to Internet and network, when prompted.

Important Note: In order to be able to play your media files through myiHome Player, myiHome Server needs to be up and running at all times

1. When selected, the Run myiHome Server at startup option will automatically runs myiHome Server at every PC startup. With this task selected, user can directly access to myiHome Player even if their myiHome application is not running.

Getting Started To enjoy your favorite media on your TV screen, please make sure all your media files placed in My Documents or your selected path.

Use myiHome

1. Go to your PC desktop and double click on myiHome

icon.

2. Please wait while it starts the service. The myiHome application window will then pop up.

3. Please turn on NMP and find your computer name at myiHome login screen and click on it to enter. Note: Before starting myiHome, make sure that both NMP and myiHome have been setup and configured correctly. Please refer to NMP User Guide for NMP setup and configuration.

myiHome Themes You can change the appearance of myiHome on TV and PC by using Themes. You can change the appearance of myiHome on TV by using Themes. You can have a different appearance, different way to navigate and extra feature like PIP window depending on the theme you apply. There are two way to change how myiHome looks . a) Select from myihome application OR b) Select direct from TV screen.

Select from myiHome application 1. To change themes on myiHome application, select Edit and then select Preferences option at myiHome menu bar. 2. Select General category and click on Appearance tab at the preferences window. 3. Choose your preferred theme for myiHome Application and player from the drop down list. 4. Click on OK button to confirm your setting and close the preferences pop up window. 5. myiHome application will be auto refreshed and switched to your preferred theme immediately.

Select direct from TV screen 1. To change themes directly from TV screen, go to TV and select setting from myiHome player home page.(please refer to figure 3.4)

Specify Preferred Language 1. To start, select Edit and then select Preferences option at myiHome menu bar. 2. Select General category and click on Appearance tab at the preferences window. 3. Choose your preferred language for myiHome Application and player from the drop down list. 4. Watch Video A feature that lets you watch your collections of videos on TV. By Default, myiHome will played all your video files (in MPEG, AVI, DAT format) that located in your My

Document/My Videos folder. i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\My Documents\My Videos

Introduction 1. You could viewing your video collection by starting myiHome, then select video channel on TV screen. You can now enjoy your favorite videos! 2. For subsequent updates, just click video channel again every time, new videos are added to the Video library. myiHome automatically updates all media files. Tips: You could organize your video files in whichever way you like. Suggested method would be creating different folder to represent different videos/events, and named your folder accordingly.

Note: Video supports multiple level of subfolders for its complexity in organizing it, so you could create as many level of subfolders as you prefer! However it is always recommended that minimum level of subfolders for easy to navigate! i.e. ..\My Videos\Comedy\Jacky\2000\True Love.mpg ..\My Videos\Comedy\True Love.mpg ..\My Videos\True Love.mpg

3. You can click on play button to play all your video files on your screen. 4. Selecting your favorite video by using a) Arrow key and press ENTER button on your remote control or b) Direct press the number on your remote control to start the video. 5. Click into folder will lead you one level deeper. You will be able to view all the files in the selected folder. 6. To navigate back to previous screen, select back icon on the top of the screen and press ENTER button on the remote control or direct press back button on the remote control. 7. To navigate back to first screen of the video channel, click on MENU button on your remote control.

RealMedia Conversion

1. To able to watch the RealMedia (*.rmvb, *.rm, and etc.) format movie file, go to Edit menu and then select Preferences option at myiHome menu bar. 2. Select Video category and check Enable RealMedia conversion option at the preferences window.

3. Select “Download mencoder” if your PC required transcoding tool. For further steps to install transcoding tools, please refer below “Install Transcoding Tools” section. 4. c) Next, open up the compress file. A rp9codecs-win32-20050115 folder will shown. Copy (or extract) all the DLL files (*.dll) to the following location : [Your System Drive]\WINDOWS\System 32 (e.g. C:\WINDOWS\System 32)

Add Video Library 1. Preferences in Video also allow user to further have additional paths on top of the default path. 2. To do this, select Watch Folder tab, then check the Enable watch folder box and then click on the “

” button to add the preferred video paths.

Play Videos in Random Order There are two way to set play videos in random order a) Select from myihome application OR b) Select direct from TV screen.

Select from myiHome application 1. At Video, enable Play videos in random order option to play all your video files on your screen in random sequence.

2. To change play order directly from TV screen, go to TV and select setting from myiHome player home page. 3. Check on Play video in random order checkbox if you want to play videos in random order or uncheck if you want to play videos in sequence. Click on Submit button when done. Listen To Music A feature that lets you play your collections of music on TV. myiHome plays MP3, AAC, OGG, WAV, WMA and etc. audio files that is store in your Default Music Library or Watch Folder. In addition, you may use myiHome together with Windows Media Player or Winamp. By Default, myiHome will played your music files that located in your My Document/My Music folder. i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\My Documents\My Music

1. You can click on play icon to play all your music files in current playlist. (you can also click on the play button on remote control) 2. Scan for Song Information You can retrieve ID3 Tag for MP3 songs to show on TV screen. When this option is selected, your music library will be categorized into Artist, Genre and Album. If song title from ID3 Tag exist, it will be displayed instead of filename. 1. To start, select Edit and then select Preferences option at myiHome menu bar. 2. Select Music category at the preferences windows, then click on Scan for song information. (please refer to Figure 5.3)

3. After done, your music library will be shown in Categories like Artist, Genre and Album. (please refer to Figure 5.4)

4. Song title from ID3 Tag will be displayed instead of filename. Note: If Support iTunes (please refer to Figure 9.1) is selected, song information (Album/Artist/Genre) will be synchronize with song information from iTunes. Slide Show for Music Playback 1. You can view your favorite photo album in your TV during music playback. 2. At Music, choose Playlist that you want to assign photo album. 3. Then select your favorite photo album from the drop down list and your selected photos slideshow will be played during music playback.

Note: For subsequent updates, just click on icon next to My Music in playlist column 2 times (collapse and expand) to refresh the contents. Then myiHome will automatically update all media files and new songs will be shown.

4. There are 3 special photo slide selection: None : No photo slide assigned; photo slide assigned to parent folder will be used. Empty : Empty slide, no background photo slide will be displayed. Default : Default photo slide will be displayed.

Add Radio Playlist 1. Beside add the internet radio playlists into iTunes , you also can stored your radio playlist files into your Music library. 2. To start, download the *.pls file from internet radio web site, i.e. shoutcast.com. 3. Click the Tune In! icon and save the *.pls file into your Music library.

4. Start myiHome Player and choose Music channel, The *.pls file will be shown on TV screen. 5. If myiHome is already up and running, refresh the Music page to automatically update the media files in Music library. 6. Radio Playlist will not appear in myiHome Application - Music.

Photo Scaling Setting There are two way to select photo scale a) Select from myihome application OR b) Select direct from TV screen.

Select from myiHome application 1. To select photo scale on myiHome application, select Edit and then select Preferences option at myiHome menu bar. (Please refer to figure 6.5) 2. Select Photo category at the preferences window and there are 3 options for photo scale 3. Select Fit To Screen if you wish to view photo in its original proportion and largest on TV screen. 4. Select Full Screen, if you wish to view photo in full screen on TV. Your photo might be stretched. 5. Select Actual Size, if you wish to view photo in its original size on TV.

Music Playlist for Slide Show 1. You could further manage your photo albums by assigning your favorite music from your music playlist for every album, it will be played during the slide show playing. 2. At Photo in myiHome Application, choose the photo album you want to assign a Playlist to. 3. Then select the song album from Playlist for the background music. 4. To set interval time between slides, simply key in the desired time in seconds.

Note: Default interval time setting is 5 seconds.

5. To set no music playback for photo slideshow, select None from the drop down list.

Play Slides in Random Order There are two way to set play slides in random order a) Select from myihome application OR b) Select direct from TV screen.

Select from myiHome application 1. At Photo, enable Play slides in random order option to play all your photo files on your screen in random sequence.

Synchronize With Internet Explorer myiHome automatically refreshes and retrieves bookmarks & RSS link created in your Internet Explorer web browser. Many sites and blogs use RSS to publish their most recent headlines, for example: http://www.apple.com/hotnews, http://www.podcast.net and etc. RSS feed is supported in myiHome. You can bookmark the site that has an RSS Feed in your browser and view it on TV with myiHome. In addition, there are many websites provide playlist in PLS format or a URL that link to MP3 file directly, such as http://www.shoutcast.com. You may bookmark these mp3 and pls link directly.

Note: RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way.

1. To start, select Edit and then select Preferences option at myiHome menu bar. 2. Select Service category at the preferences window and at the Synchronize bookmark with browser section , choose Internet Explorer to be synchronized.

3. Go into Service on TV, you will see a list of Internet Explorer. Click on your favorite link and you will be able to view the website on TV.

Firefox Live Bookmarks 1. Firefox has a very nice feature called Live Bookmarks. in the bottom right part of the Firefox browser window (the status bar).

Windows Media Connect Windows Media Connect is an exciting new technology. It can be supported on many of these devices, including digital audio receivers, digital media receivers, connected DVD players and set-top boxes.

Introduction If you have Windows XP with SP2, and with Windows Media Connect (WMC) already installed, myiHome provide an extra option for you to view and stream protected content from WMC. In this case, you need to ensure WMC has authorized your machine. The authorization steps to detect as below.

Step 1: Turn OFF Firewall 1. Go to Control Panel and select Security Center menu. 2. Make sure Firewall is turn OFF before connect to WMC. 3. If Firewall option shown ON status, please click on Windows Firewall option at Manage security settings. It will bring a popup window.

1. To start, select Edit and then select Preferences option at myiHome menu bar. 2. Select General category and click on Media Server tab at the preferences window. 3. Check the checkbox Rhapsody at UPnP AV Server column to enable myiHome to display Rhapsody contents.

4. Once RealRhaphospy is launched, a login dialogue box will be prompted. Fill in your login information and click Sign In button.

Create My Playlists in WMP 8 1. Launch Window Media Player 8 and create a new playlist by clicking the New playlist button. Type a name for playlist e.g. Test, and press Enter. 2. Drag and drop your music files into the new Test playlist. Once done, go to the WMP8 Media Library drop down box on top right corner and select the Test playlist just created. 3. To save the Test playlist, go to File, select Export Playlist to File... and save Test playlist in the .asx file format.

To rename the new playlist, right-click the playlist and select Rename playlist. Type in a new name for playlist e.g. TEST3, and press Enter. TEST3 will then be created in the Playlist Editor. 3. You can now add music files to the new TEST3 playlist. 4. To save the TEST3 playlist, click the Playlist button again and select Save playlist as... 5. Troubleshooting Q : I don't see the Video, Music and Photo Menu A : You must firstly install myiHome to your computer. The myiHome installation comes in a form of CD ROM, packaged along with NMP. Once installed myiHome on your computer, you will be able to see an icon link to myiHome. Click on the icon and you will be directed to all the digital media content in your computer in the form of a menu. Q : What music file formats can I use? A : The myiHome is able to play audio files of the following format : • MPEG I Layer 1 (MP1) (.mp1, .mpa) • MPEG I Layer 2 (MP2) (.mp2) • MPEG I Layer 3 (MP3) (.mp3) • Ogg Vorbis (OGG) (.ogg) • AC3 5.1 (AC3) (.ac3) • Microsoft PCM Wave (WAV) (.wav) • Advanced Audio Coding (AAC, ADIF, ADTS) (.aac, m4a, .aiff) • Apple MPEG4 AAC Audio (M4A) (.m4a) • Microsoft Windows Media Audio version 1 and version 2 (WMA) (.wma)

Q : I can't access myiHome from NMP A : 1. Check Computer Check that your computer is on and is not in sleep mode. 2. Check the path seting for media content Confirm that you have placed your media content in the correct folder you have assigned in your Preferences settings in myiHome. 3. Check computer's connection on home network Ensure that your computer is physically connected to your home network. If your home network includes a shared internet connection, check that your computer is on your home network by opening any internet browser and surf about the net. 4. Check NMP's connection on home network Ensure that your NMP is also physically connected to your home network. If your home network includes a shared internet connection, check if your NMP is able to go to the internet . 5. Check myiHome is running Check that your myiHome application is running on your computer. You can see the application either on the panel of you computer or an icon of myiHome that appears on the panel of your computer. 6. Check network security software Some network security software may block NMP from browsing to myiHome's application software running in your computer. If you are using network security software, try turning it off.

7. Check that you are signed in If your computer is running on Windows XP, make sure you have signed in. 8. Check IP address of your computer If your computer running myiHome is not seen in NMP, you can always manually add in the IP address of that particular computer to access your digital content. You can do so in your main Login page of NMP and click on add. This will lead you to further menu to add in the computer's name and it's IP address. You can refer this in NMP User Guide page 8. Q : I can't hear any sound from NMP A : 1. Check volume, power and speakers Make sure that your television or entertainment centre are powered on, and that the volume is at an acceptable hearing range. Also certain entertainment centre allows you to choose the speakers for you to output. Please ensure that the correct speakers are selected. 2. Check connections If your NMP is connected to any home entertainment equipment, please check that the cables are connected properly and firmly.

3. Check the video and song Make sure that the content you are playing are selected correctly. Double check on your computer by double-clicking on that content you are streaming and make sure it contains sound. Q : I don't see any Video, Music or Photos on myiHome A : 1. Check for Video files Make sure that the folder you are setting to contain video. You can check this in your myiHome application installed in your computer by selecting video and the respective folder you wish to view from. If there are videos available, you should see the video/movie files listed on the right pane. You can also check this by browsing through your computer to see if that folder has already video files available. 2. Check for Music files Make sure that the folder you are setting to contain music files. You can check this in your myiHome application installed in your computer by selecting music and the respective folder you wish to play audio from. If there are music files available, you should see songs listed on the right pane. You can also check this by browsing through your computer to see if that folder has already music files available.

3. Check for Photo files It is possible to publish folders set in your myiHome preferences that have no video, music or photos by accident. Make sure that the folder you are setting to contains photo. You can check this in your myiHome application installed in your computer by selecting photo and the respective folder you wish to publish from. If there are photos available, you should see thumbnails of the photos on the right pane. You can also check this by browsing through your computer to see if that folder has already photos available 4. Check digital content format Also make sure that the published content are supported by NMP, as listed in NMP User Guide Appendix B. Q : I changed some of the Video, Music and Photo content on myiHome but I can't see the changes on NMP A : Some changes do not appear on your NMP immediately. You can reload the content which will refresh and obtain the latest changes made in myiHome by : 1. Pressing the refresh button on your remote control or keyboard 2. Select either Video, Music or Photo on the menu while accessing myiHome Q : An error occurred while I was browsing my Video, Music and Photo content A : 1. Check that the content you are playing have not been deleted If you have moved or deleted some files while NMP is streaming, it may cause error on NMP. If this happened, please refresh or restart your NMP while browsing through myiHome. Or restart your myiHome application running in your computer, Simply click on File and Exit. Then double click on the myiHome icon on your computer to start the application again. 2. Check the number of files in your folder The group of video, music or photos that you are trying to access to may be too large. You can try to use other folders or playlist with fewer files. Or you can group the files within subfolder to minimize the amount of files stored within a folder itself. Q : NMP responds slowly when I watch movie, browse photo or listen to music A : 1. Publish multiple folders If there are a large number of files placed in a folder, navigating through these folders may be slow. Try creating more folders with fewer content in each one.

2. Remove unusable files Move files that are not known to be digital content media files. Non-supported file format although may not be seen in myiHome will still be processed through to filter all these out which may slow down during browsing. 3. Change performance settings Try adjusting your computer that is running myiHome application to optimal level. This is to enhance the performance of your computer while serving the published content to NMP.

Appendix 3: Enable MAC Address Control MAC Address Control is another level of security feature supported by myiHome. In a multi NMP environment, users may restrict only an authorised NMP can serve their content. 1. To start, select Edit and then select Preferences option at myiHome menu bar. 2. 1. Connect cables from NMP output socket to TV AV input socket. Available connector: RCA, DVI/D-Sub, Composite/S-Video, Component, Scart, D4. 2. Use LAN cables to connect both NMP and Mac/PC to your hub or switch. 3. Plug-in the POWER adapter to wall socket and the adapter supply to NMP. 4. For digital audio output: Coax or Optical cable.

Note: You can directly connect the NMP to Mac / PC with cross cable without using hub / switch.

:: Access myiHome

1. Once you turn on your NMP, NMP will automatically search for computer that are running myiHome software on your local network. 2. NMP will list out all the computer running myiHome software that found on the network at profile screen. (please refer to Figure 15.12) 3. Search for your computer name from the list and wait for the tv icon next to your computer name turn to blue, you can then access to your myiHome.

Note:

- indicates myiHome is not available (This might because of myiHome not running or PC is not turned on)

- indicates myiHome is ready for accessing - indicates default myiHome

4. If upon startup after 30 secs, no myiHome is found on your local network, You will see the below screen. (please refer to Figure 15.13)

5. Click on myiHome Server will bring your directly to our Syabas home services. 6. From here, you can turning into internet radio station, read up-to-date news and access to a wide variety of information. (please refer to Figure 15.14)

Note: Do you know NMP supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP)? When NMP is plugged into the network, it will configure itself, acquire a TCP/IP address, and announce its presence on the network to myiHome.

:: Add myiHome

1. If your myiHome does not show up at profile screen, you can add it manually. 2. To add, click on add button at profile screen. myiHome Add screen will appear. (please refer to figure 15.15)

3. Enter your corresponding computer name at myiHome name column. 4. Key in your computer IP address at myiHome IP column. 5. Enable the Always connect to this myiHome option, if you want your NMP directly connected to this myiHome every time after bootup.

6. Click on save button when done, it will bring you back to profile screen. 7. Your myiHome name will be shown at profile screen now. Click on it to access your myiHome.

:: Edit myiHome

1. If the IP address of your computer is changed, you can update your computer IP using edit feature at profile screen. 2. Click on edit button at the profile screen to lead you to myiHome Edit screen. 3. Choose and click the myiHome that you want to edit. (please refer to figure 15.16) 4. Once chosen, The selected myiHome’s Name and IP will be displayed. (please refer to figure 15.17)

5. You can only edit the IP address of your myiHome. 6. Enable the Always connect to this myiHome option, if you want your NMP directly connected to this myiHome every time after bootup.

1. To remove unwanted myiHome from the profile screen, click on delete at profile screen and you will taken to the Delete myiHome screen. (please refer to figure 15.18)

2. Check off the myiHome that you wish to remove. 3. Click delete when done, and the selected myiHome will be deleted.

1. Customize NMP’s visual presentation according to your preference at options setting screen:

Screen Saver

- This option let you select the length of idle period before screen saver take over your TV screen. Default value is 10 minutes but you can choose between 1 to 60 minutes. To exit from the screen saver, press any key on the remote.

System Language

- To specify your preferred language for NMP system.

Encoding Language

- To specify your preferred language for NMP Browser.

Subtitle Language

- You can specify your preferred language for the subtitle in the movie playback. You can turn off this option by selecting Subtitle Off.

Internet Security

- The security of the browser. Default value SSL2 should be adequate most of the time.

Video Setting

- This option let you choose your video output. You can choose Composite/S-Video , Component, or one of the three HDTV component standards – 480P, 720P or 1080i from the drop down list.

Video Zoom

- You can select the display format of your movie as Fit to Screen, Full Screen or Actual Size

Browser Option

- When compact browser mode is enable, NMP will try to fit the content of any web page into one page. When HD browser mode is enable, NMP will readjust myiHome browser size to fit in more component.

Sound Option

- You can turn Typing, Navigation and System alert sounds on or off by check or uncheck the corresponding field.

2. Click on Restore Factory Setting to change the setting to the default value. 3. Click on Save button on the screen to save your changes. 4. Click on Cancel button to discard unsaved changes.

Note: You can get the firmware version of your NMP at the bottom of options screen.

1. NMP can automatically obtain its IP address from the DHCP server on your network. If your network do not have a DHCP server, NMP will assign an IP to itself. 2. To manually assign your own IP address, click on Switch to Manual button. 3. In Manual mode, fill in all the fields listed in the IP Config Setup screen.

MAC Address

- A hardware address that uniquely identifies each NMP.

IP Address

- Choose an IP address that is different from other computers, printers and various devices on your network.

Subnet Mask

- 255.255.255.0 is the most common setting for most home user networks.

Primary DNS

- The IP address of your Domain Name Server (DNS).

Secondary DNS

- The IP address of your backup DNS.

Default Gateway

- The IP address of the gateway or router on your network.

4. Click on Save button on the screen to save your changes. 5. Click on Cancel button to discard unsaved changes.

1. Upon entering to this page, an auto-scanning procedure for available AP (Access Points) will take place. Please refer to attribute details as follow: Now Using

- show the status of the connection either using Wireless mode or Wired mode.

Network

- allows you to manually choose which preferred connection. Either in Wired mode or Wireless mode.

Available

- this is a drop down list. Which shows all available AP(s). To initiate an AP scanning, just click on the icon WIFI Setup. This will re-iterate the AP scanning process, which is the similar case upon every visit to this page.

SSID

- click on the Select button, the selected SSID on the Available list will be placed in this text box. Or, if preferred, you can manually key-in the SSID in this text box also.

Connection

- this is a drop down list. There are 2 selection here, Infrastructure : connection to an AP, and Ad-hoc : a peer-to-peer connection.

WEP

- No encryption, 64-bit or 128-bit encryption on your wireless network.

WEP Key

- WEP encryption key only needed when the WEP setting above is to 64-bit or 128-bit. When 64-bit WEP is used, WEP key should be 10 hexadecimal characters. When 128-bit WEP is used, WEP key should be 26 hexadecimal characters. Valid value for a hexadecimal character is 0 to 9 and A to F.

2. Click on Save button to save your latest setting. The system will then reboot using the new setting. 3. Click on Cancel button to discard unsaved changes.

You are not encourage to change the primary NTP server and Secondary NTP server, unless you know exactly what you are doing. The default value should work just fine. 1.
