NEWS LETTER Teenagers from both twin towns visit Helston for cultural and language enhancement.

There was also plenty of time for sight seeing.

Chiara Parisini from Bologna, Italy visited Helston for a 3 week period during July and enjoyed an action packed visit. Chiara visited Sithney Primary School and worked as a teacher’s assistant. She also had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours behind the bar at The Cadgwith Inn. Time spent with her host family gave Chiara the opportunity to play golf, have a go at clay pigeon shooting and grass cutting, using a ride on mower.

Adrien is from Plougsnou, Brittany and he spent a month in Helston. Adrien spent a lot of his time at Helston Community College continuing his studies in Law and improving his English. HDTTA would like to thank the teachers and pupils of Sithney Primary School and Helston Community College, for giving Chiara and Adrien the opportunity to s spend time with them.

Italian Language Class Win Award

The Italian Language and Culture ABC Entry Level 3 class, won an award for outstanding language and social skills, following a recent interchange between the class and a visiting delegation from Helston’s twin town of Sasso Marconi. The class excelled themselves during the visit by meeting the visitors and exercising their Italian language skills. The class prepared numerous questions to ask the visiting group prior to the

meeting and consequently shared their findings with their teacher Mrs Giuliana Hanman. The students were presented with their certificates by The Chairman of Cornwall Council, Cllr. Mrs Pat Harvey at an award ceremony held at County Hall on 6 July 2011. Pamela Blackburn needs donations of buttons, fabric, etc. She makes bespoke handbags and has offered a financial donation to twinning from every bag sold.
