N.B. We can also provide units on demand to supply chilled water at less than 4°C.
Use of antifreeze solutions The use of ethylene glycol is foreseen in those cases in which the discharge of the water from the hydraulic circuit is desired during winter shutdown period. The glycol solution modifies the physical features of the water and, consequently, the unit performances in terms of efficiency. The proper glycol percentage to be put into the system can be obtained from the most demanding operating conditions chosen from those detailed hereunder.
Anti-freeze protection during seasonal stop Table “A” shows the multipliers to obtain the changes of the unit performance according to the necessary percentages of ethylene glycol. The multipliers refer to the following conditions: condenser inlet air temperature 35°C; chilled water temperature 7°C; water ∆t at the evaporator 5°C. For different operating conditions the same multipliers can be used since the amount of their change is negligible. The units are equipped with an electronic controller that is compatible with an external system through a serial communication line. The communication protocol allows the access to all the functions of the unit, as: ○ setting all the values accessible by the keyboard; ○ reading all the process variables of the digital as well as analogue inputs and outputs; ○ read the various alarm codes and if necessary reset them; ○ read all the parameters for programming or change some of them.
MINI-Q Installation Handling
Clearances and positioning
○ Movement of the unit should be performed with care, in order to avoid damage to the external structure and to the internal mechanical and electrical components. For proper movement refer to the instructions in the use and maintenance manual. ○ The unit should be correctly levelled and positioned on a supporting surface capable of sustaining its full weight. ○ The unit cannot be installed on brackets or shelves. ○ Do not stack the units.
○ The unit is designed for outdoor installation. ○ Segregate the units if installed in areas accessible to persons under 14 years of age. ○ The unit must be installed in compliance with the minimum recommended technical spaces shown in fig. 6, allowing sufficient room for access to the refrigerant and electrical connections on the right hand side.

MINI-Q Hydraulic connection Connection to the system ○ The unit is equipped with: male threaded hydraulic connections, manual air vent located inside the shell near the hydraulic connections, inertial storage tank, circulation pump, membrane expansion tank (sized for the water content of the machine only) and safety valve. ○ The installation of intercepting valves to insulate the unit from the system is recommended ○ It is compulsory to fit an external mesh filter at the point of entry of the water into the machine (KFA accessory) ○ The water flow through the heatexchanger should not go below a rate corresponding to a temperature differential of 8°C. ○ Discharging the water from the system is advisable for seasonal shutdown. ○ Water discharge can be carried out by adding ethylene glycol to the hydraulic circuit (see use of antifreeze solutions).

○ The electrical board can be accessed from the machine’s side panel. ○ The connections have to be carried out as per rules in force and electrical wiring diagram included. ○ Always install a general isolator in a protected area near the appliance with a delayed characteristic curve of a suitable capacity and breaking capacity. Make sure the general isolator includes a 3mm minimum opening distance between contacts. ○ Earth connection is compulsory by law to ensure user safety while the machine is in use.
