Strolling Through English

Une baladodiffusion en anglais Ce projet consiste à proposer des ressources sonores, vidéo avec leurs documents d’accompagnement pour les élèves et pour les enseignants du primaire. Pour les élèves : • Des dialogues à l’accent authentique ; • Des chansons traditionnelles ; • Des histoires ; • Des explications culturelles. Pour les enseignants : • Des aides linguistiques ; • Des modèles d’expression orale ; • Des outils à exploiter avec les élèves.

La production de ce podcast est pilotée par l’équipe départementale du Val-deMarne, coordonnée par l’IEN chargée du dossier langues vivantes. Il est alimenté par les recherches du groupe départemental Langues Vivantes Étrangères à l’école. Les lectures sont assurées par des assistant(e)s anglophones en poste dans nos écoles pour une année scolaire ; l’anglais parlé est celui de leur pays d’origine, Îles Britanniques, États-Unis, Canada, Australie… Les enregistrements et la création du podcast sont réalisés par deux maîtres formateurs TICE du département. Les dessins originaux sont l’œuvre d’un conseiller pédagogique départemental en « Arts visuels ». Un nouvel épisode est régulièrement publié. Plusieurs niveaux sont proposés (de 1 à 5) s’appuyant sur les progressions et les programmations départementales. Chaque enregistrement propose une version lente des dialogues et une version plus fluide se rapprochant davantage de l’expression d’un locuteur natif. Épisode 9 Today, we’re going to describe three playground games. Here are the rules:

Game number one: Whatʼs the time Mr Wolf? The wolf faces a wall. The other children are standing on the playground at a distance. The group says : “What’s the time Mr Wolf?” Mr Wolf chooses a time between 1 and 12 o’clock. For example: if he says “4 o’clock”, the others take 4 steps towards the wolf. When the wolf says “It’s dinner time” he chases the group and tries to catch somebody. The pupil who is caught becomes the wolf.

It’s a good way for teachers to practice different mealtimes such as breakfast, lunch or dinner and how to tell the time.

Game number two: Hopscotch Draw a grid on the playground with chalk. To start the game, throw a pebble on number one. Skip over number one and hop down the grid to number ten then turn around and hop back, stopping to pick up your pebble without touching the ground. Start again by throwing your pebble onto number two, and so on… If you touch the lines either with your pebble or your feet, you miss your turn. The winner is the one who has gone up to ten.

Game number three: Duck, duck, goose Choose somebody to be the goose. The other children sit in a circle on the ground. The goose walks around the outside of the circle tapping each pupil’s head saying “duck, duck,…” until he or she chooses a pupil to call “goose”. That pupil must stand up and chase the goose around the circle. If the pupil catches the goose before he or she gets back to the empty place, then the goose remains the goose. If the pupil doesn’t catch the goose, he or she becomes the goose.

Go out now and play these games on the playground with your pupils.
