Product information bulletin # 201312 DRD -system retrofit installation on FIRE reserve container. December 20, 2013 SUBJECT: Reserve container STATUS: Informative. Customer on-demand. IDENTIFICATION: All Fire h\c BASIS: On customer demand, SWS Fire can be retrofitted with DRD system, if no such system was installed during production. BACKGROUND: Because an option to add DRD as a retrofit is included in the Fire design, installation is not complicated. PROCEDURES: 1. The owner of the rig must take a photograph of the ID label on the right reserve riser. The photo should include also the shoulder flap. The photo is to be sent by email to SWS. Hardware (Brass or SS) used in DRD/RSL lanyard attachment lock and which certified service center you prefer must also be specified. (list of SWS certified service centers can be found on our website)

2. SWS will send a retrofit set including new reserve freebag with DRD pocket, DRD handles, trigger pocket and line pocket set to the specified service center to be installed.

3. A qualified master rigger (or equivalent) will install the pockets on the DRD flap at the service-center. The work requires: medium duty lockstitch sewing machine, nylon thread number 40 (E-thread or number 69 in American nomenclature).

3.1. Attach trigger pocket on the DRD flap. The center of the pocket must line up with the center of the grommet and the top edge of the pocket (with horizontal stitching) should line up with grommet inside edge. The pocket is sewn with 1 row of stitching on the 2 vertical sides of the pocket. The stitch should reach over the edge of the pocket on to the DRD flap. (as seen in the photo below)

3.2. Position the elastic line pocket in the middle of the DRD flap, one centimeter from the top edge and attach it by sewing two rows of stitches on the top of the stitches of the binding tape.

3.3. Check correctness of the assembly. Document the alteration in the parachute documents: «DRD modification performed according to SWS bulletin №201312».
