Working on Master Pages is the same as working on Document Pages; you have the same tools palettes at your disposal.

The primary difference is that whatever you do on the Master Page will available on every page that contains the master page.

When Editing on Master Pages you have access to the same dialog boxes, pallets, tools, and restrictions as you would in a Document page.

If you make a change to a master page, that is already being used by a document page; your changes will affect the work you have done on the Document page.

The three indent fields allow you to create hanging indents, and place paragraph indents on the left and right edges of a text box, text path or column.

Left Indent - Allows you to set space between the left edge of a column, text box, or text path to the left side of a paragraph.

First Line - Allows you to set the space between a left indent and the beginning of the first line of a following paragraph. A positive value allows you to indent the first line of the paragraph to the right of the left indent. A negative value entered after a positive value is in the Left Indent field, allows you to indent the first line of the paragraph to the left of the left indent, this is a hanging indent. The same process applies if setting formats for a text path, yet there cannot more than one line of text on a text path.

Right Indent - Allows you to set the space between the right edge of a column, text box, or text path to the right side of a paragraph.

Using Pantones

Creating Pantone colors

Quark QuarkXPress 4 - Slide No 28

When you need to ad color to your work and you do not need a rainbow of colors, the best thing to use is Pantone colors. For example to print the color red in CMYK you need a Magenta plate, and a Yellow Plate, and depending on the shade of Red that you are looking for, you may need a Black plate as well. Now your cost is going up because there is more work involved to print your job.

This is where Pantone Colors come in handy. The same job that would have used 3 printing plates and three different kinds of ink to create, now only requires one plate and one Pantone colored ink.

When creating pantone colors in Quark, it is a good idea to remember that each pantone color you use will require it's own printed separation, and it's own printing plate to reproduce on a press.

A bitmap picture is made up of small pixels of color.
