Postdoctoral Position in Peptide Chemistry Location: Department of Pharmaceutical & Medicinal Chemistry, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Reporting To: Dr Terrence Norchi (CEO Arch Therapeutics) and Dr Marc Devocelle (RCSI) Project background and description: University College Dublin (UCD) in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin (TCD), University College Cork (UCC) and the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) has established the Irish Drug Delivery Research Network Cluster, supported by Arch Therapeutics, Aerogen, Genzyme Ireland and Sigmoid Biotechnologies. The Cluster is funded by Science Foundation Ireland. The group is focusing on nano-structured materials and improved methods of delivery of peptides and nucleic acids. A research position (1 year initially) is immediately available for a candidate at a postdoctoral level, to work with Arch Therapeutics on the synthesis, purification and characterisation of novel self-assembling peptide candidates. Person Specification: the candidate should have a PhD in Organic / Peptide Chemistry or in a related field; (s)he should be able to integrate into an interinstitutional research team and to interact constructively with the Board of Directors, Key Advisors and Consultants of Arch Therapeutics and with peers. Experience in peptide synthesis and purification is not required but would be an advantage. Salary: the successful candidate will be appointment on the post-doctoral salary scale (€37-44k) at a point commensurate with qualifications and experience.
