Foreword This manualcontains Technicallnformation as well as instructions on repairsfor Porschevehicles. It is intendedfor the sole use of workshopsbelongingto PorscheAG. The descriptionsform the basis for professionaland correct maintenance and repair work. The content of the work procedures described is based on the level of training of a fitter who has completed vocationaltraining and has a sound knowledgeof the product. This level of knowledgeis necessaryin order to carry out the work described. Warning notes The warning notes and safety instructionsare classified by the respective signalisingword (Danger,Warning,Caution)besidethe warning symbol.

2. Fit the clutch slave cylinder and tighten the fastening screws (23 Nm (17 ftlb.)).

Lower screw: 3/8 inch changeover ratchet in combination with a short extension (approx. 100 mm long)and 13 mm socket wrench insert.

Note

Wheninserting clutch slave cylinderI it is necessaryto overcome the spring force acting on the push rod whilst fitting a fastening screw. Refer to the assembly instructionsin the following text.

Move clutch slave cylinder to installation position and then fix/centre it at the lower fastening point using a drift punch (A) measuring 5 x 120 x 10 mm. Align clutch slave cylinder -with punch (A) in place -so

that the upper

fastening screw No.3 can be fitted.

Important notes: After fitting the upper fastening screw No.3, remove the drift punch (A)and screw in the lower fastening screw.

The clutch hydraulics must always be filled or bled using a pressure filling and bleeding device. Furthermore, the bleeder valve must be opened sufficientlyand the gauge pressure must be approx. 1.5 bar.

Tighten upper and lower fastening screws (23 Nm (17 ftlb.)).

Before the system is filled or bled, the clutch pedal must be in the "Pedal fully depressed" position.

Important: As there is no system pressure, servo kinematic effects will cause the clutch pedal to move forward abruptly. In order to avoid damage, the pedal must be guided manually. Bleed the system until no more bubblesappear at the bleeder valve (use a collecting bottle with transparenthose). 350_98

If the system was open previously I the minimum filling or bleeding time must be 30 seconds.

5. Check operation of the clutch. Repeatthe bleeding process if the clutch does not operate (disengage)correctly. 6. Install rear axle cross member. Tighteningtorque of the two screws 65 Nm (48 ftlb.).

notes

The description below appliesto left-handdrive vehicles. On right-handdrive vehicles, the clutch pedal lever is located directly next to the brake pedal (separated by the steering outer tube in the case of left-handdrive vehicles). Assembly/disassemblyfor right-handdrive vehicles is similar to the procedure for left-handdrive vehicles. Before the start of disassemblywork on the pedals, the clutch boost spring must be fixed with a cotter pin (arrow at No.5). Important: secure the cotter pin (bend it over).
