Phil Desgagné a travaillé au sein de la LHJMQ pendant 16 saisons : sa première à titre de juge de lignes et les quinze suivantes comme arbitre.

Phil Desgagné was an on-ice official for sixteen seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He worked as a linesman in his first year of duty and then worked as a referee for the remainder of his career.

Dès la saison 1969-70, il parcourt le Québec pour prendre part à près de 45 matchs annuellement. En 1982, à l’aréna Robert-Guertin de Hull, il est l’arbitre assigné à la grande finale de la Coupe Memorial remportée par les Rangers de Kitchener aux dépens des Castors de Sherbrooke. Né à Chicoutimi, Québec, le 6 mai 1945. Officiel sur glace, de 1969-70 à 1985-86. Born in Chicoutimi, Quebec on May 6, 1945. On-ice official from 1969-70 to 1985-86.

L’arbitre originaire de Chicoutimi a également été appelé à travailler lors de trois matchs des étoiles de la LHJMQ. Phil Desgagné est le deuxième arbitre à faire son entrée au Temple de la renommée de la LHJMQ et le premier membre originaire du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean. Depuis 1984, il est à la barre de la tribune téléphonique quotidienne « Les amateurs de sports » au Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean.

As early as his first season in 1969-70, he traveled throughout the province of Quebec to take part in nearly 45 games. In 1982, he was assigned to work the Memorial Cup, where he was the referee for the final game won by the Kitchener Rangers over the Sherbrooke Castors at the Robert-Guertin arena in Hull. The Chicoutimi native was also assigned to three QMJHL All-Star contests. Phil Desgagné will be the second referee to be inducted into the QMJHL Hall of Fame and the first member originating from the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region. Since 1984, he has been hosting the daily call-in radio show “Les amateurs de sports” in Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean.
