ALPRIDE - SWISS QUALIT Y Alpride successfully transformed the same technology found in inflatable life vest, a system that proven its efficiency in the navy for more than 50 years, into an avalanche airbag.
SWISS ENGINEERING: RELIABILITY & ROBUSTNESS The device is made of only few key custom parts. This simple assembling of a limited number of parts reduce the risk of problems. Not explosive, no electricity: the handle pull a lever which release the spring. This spring releases the gas by punching the cartridges. FAQ HANDLING How does the SCOTT ALPRIDE AIRBAG SYSTEM work? It’s a cartridge inflator system that inflates the airbag. What are the advantages compared to the other existing systems on the market? The Alpride system is extremely light and the cartridges are more affordable than the competition’s products. How long does it take to inflate the Airbag? Less than three seconds. Are you allowed to travel with the airbag and the cartridges? Absolutely no problem. The IATA (International Air Transport Association) declares cartridges with less than 200 bars as not dangerours. The Alpride cartridges are like the type used on a life jacket. You are allowed to travel with 2 sets of cartidges for one pack. (for more information see: www.iata.org)
TECH INFO How many times can the cartridges be used? Just one time Where can the cartridges be purchased ? You can buy them in stores where SCOTT packs are sold. What kind of gas is in the cartridges? C02 and Argon Is Argon dangerous? No, not at all. Argon is a noble gas that is used in diving as well as in the food industry.
HOW IS THE AIRBAG INSTALLED? 1. Open the backpack 2. Slip the handle into the shoulder strap and fix the handle positions with the plastic clip on the webbing. 3. Take out the airbag from the inside through the hole into the airbag pocket. Open the zipper of the airbag pocket outside 4. Connect the four hooks of the airbag to the backpack 5. Get the zipper slider of the airbag pocket on the right side and close the zipper with the airbag put in 6. Fix the inflator with the Velcro strap and put the mesh cone over the inflator. 7. Screw the cartridges in. 8. Ready to use.
HOW DO WE RE ACTIVATE THE SYSTEM ONCE USED? 1. Deflate the airbag 2. Fold the airbag back into the airbag pocket 3. On the inflator, screw the spring back so the indicator is no longer visible. 4. Replace the cartridges 5. Ready to use
How much pressure is in the cartridge? 17.5 MPa. How should the cartridges be stored? In a place that is protected from direct sunlight. How long are they usable for? There is no expiration date. You can use them as long as the weight of the gas is in the range of - 10% of the nominal weight (printed on each cartridge), meaning at least 10 years or more. As there are two different cartridges, does it matter in which position each cartridge is installed? Each cartridge has its own screw thread size, meaning it will only fit in its intended spot. Once inflated, how can the system be deflated? Just push the valve flap on the inflator to release the air. Is there a proper way to fold the bag back into the airbag pocket? Yes, the side parts of the airbag have to fold towards the top and the rest is folded like a “Z”- it is quick and easy to do. The proper procedure can be found on the airbag
