For the Israelites, a kingdom was something to build, both structurally and civilly. While this had ended in ruin for their ancestors, many of Jesus' contemporaries longed for the restoration of an earthly kingdom. Jesus' words in today's Gospel are a radical departure from this perspective. He compares the Kingdom of God to a field, but it appears that the farmer has little to do with its progress. "The seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. Of its own accord, the land yields fruit." Jesus introduces his followers to a new sort of kingdom, a kingdom where God provides the growth. There is work to be done, of course. "When the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come." But for the Kingdom of God to flourish, there are certain things that are outside of our control. We sow seeds of kindness, justice, and integrity ? and then we must be patient. As shoots of faith appear, we nurture the growth with encouragement. As Christians, our task is not to build the Kingdom of God under our power alone, but to trust in the life-giving movement of God. TO ALL FATHERS WHO PLAYS A VERY IMPORTANT ROLE IN OUR LIVES. MAY GOD BLESS YOU WITH GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPINESS. From the Parish Staff..

ONZIEME DIMANCHE ORDINAIRE ANNEE B: 17 JUIN 2018
Les textes de ce 11e dimanche sont tout à fait adaptés à la couleur du temps. Nous entrons dans l’été cette semaine, et la nature a revêtu ses habits de fête, de fleurs et de verdure foisonnante. Les arbres secs et dénudés ont reverdi. Les graines semées au printemps ont germé et ont donné naissance à des plantes de toutes sortes. Les paraboles du prophète Ézéchiel et de Jésus sont tout à fait de saison. Par la bouche d’Ézéchiel, Dieu annonce à son peuple que s’achèvent pour lui les hivers de l’exil. Saint Paul, lui aussi, annonce une résurrection. Il présente la vie humaine comme un temps d’exil, en attente de la fin de nos hivers et de l’entrée dans un été sans fin. Frères, nous avons pleine confiance, tout en sachant que nous sommes en exil loin du Seigneur tant que nous habitons dans ce corps ; en effet, nous cheminons dans la foi, nous cheminons sans voir. Oui, nous avons confiance, et nous aimerions mieux être en exil loin de ce corps pour habiter chez le Seigneur. Que nous soyons chez nous ou en exil,notre ambition, c’est de plaire au Seigneur. Car il nous faudra tous apparaître à découvert devant le tribunal du Christ, pour que chacun reçoive ce qu’il a mérité, soit en bien soit en mal, pendant qu’il était dans son corps.—-Nous retrouvons ce dimanche la lecture continue de l’Évangile selon saint Marc, au chapitre 4. Jésus parle à la foule du Règne de Dieu qui germe et grandit, et il s’adresse à elle en paraboles printanières et estivales. Par de nombreuses paraboles semblables, Jésus leur annonçait la Parole, dans la mesure où ils étaient capables de la comprendre. Il ne leur disait rien sans employer de paraboles, mais en particulier, il expliquait tout à ses disciples.——-Les paraboles sont des récits à interpréter de deux manières. Au premier niveau, tous peuvent comprendre : Jésus emploie des mots et des images concrètes, simples, à la portée de la foule. Tous sont invités à la réflexion : à s’étonner devant les mystères de la vie, et devant son dynamisme incessant qui fait que les semences germent et grandissent. Devant ce miracle que d’une semence toute petite puisse germer et grandir une plante sans commune mesure avec elle. Et tout cela que nous dormions ou que nous nous levions. A ce premier niveau, les paraboles sont une théologie de la création : elles sont pleines de sagesse et toujours actuelles. L’homme moderne, pragmatique et efficace, en arrive un peu à oublier que la vie vient de plus loin que lui. Il n’en est ni la source ni le maître. Es bueno dar gracias al Señor. Muchas veces los maestros de las escuelas y los catequistas de las parroquias llevan a cabo la dinámica de invitar a sus alumnos a plantar una semillita de frijol en un pequeño vaso lleno de tierra. Todos los días los niños cuidan y observan cuidadosamente la semilla hasta que brota la planta. Y al verla crecer se llenan de alegria. En las lecturas de hoy encontramos algo similar a esta dinámica. Jesús nos asegura que la semilla crece por sí misma con impresionante vitalidad. En el Evangelio, Jesús dice palabras que ayudan al corazón de cada persona a crecer sembrando el bien en dondequiera que se encuentre. Las parábolas son una directa invitación a la esperanza, a no perder el ánimo de sembrar a pesar del desaliento que muchas veces nos afecta. Jesús hoy nos reta a todos a dejar el desánimo y seguir evangelizando, dialogando y guiando a nuestros hijos, alumnos, amigos y familia. Aunque parezca que la semilla no da fruto, Dios se encarga de que germine en cada corazón. La Palabra de Dios nos alienta a ser fieles y tener plena confianza en él. ¡No lo defraudemos, sigamos luchando por la justicia!
