TUTORIAL: ROM and/or Kernel-Update TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 with MAGLDR A ROM or kernel update can be accomplished without losing any data. At the end of the process, the phone will reboot with all your applications, settings and other data intact. Warning: Before installing a new ROM version, make sure it is capable of working with data from your current ROM version. Outline: Back up the existing system with CWM (a safety measure) Use CWM to install the new ROM or kernel over the restored system Wipe caches, fix permissions, reboot Steps: 1. Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) a. Power off phone (remove and reinsert battery if necessary, reconnect to USB) b. Power on phone, hold button until the MAGLDR Boot menu appears c. Select option „AD Recovery“ (this will start CWM) d. Wait until ClockworkMod Recovery menu appears 2. Use CWM to copy new ROM and/or kernel and/or other packages to your SD card a. Select option „mounts and storage“ b. Select option “mount USB storage” (on the PC a message requesting you to install a driver for “ADB” might appear, dismiss it) c. If the SD card does not appear as a drive on your PC, unplug the phone’s USB connection, then reconnect it d. Copy the zip files for ROM (TyphooN_*.zip for MAGLDR as posted in OP of TyphooN thread) and/or kernel and/or other packages to SD card root directory, e. On the PC, use “Safely remove hardware” function to disconnect the SD card f. On the phone, select “Unmount” g. Press button to return to CWM main menu 3.
