Nancy Houston, in Enfances volées, Acte sud

Everything begun with this deep and terrible question that stroke us with reality : “Is the adults’ work a children’s game”? Is mankind nothing but a huge construction yard where all things are being built, destroyed and built again, without anyone ever knowing why? Are we only in transit in those actions that last way beyond our own existence? Yet, isn’t life a travel? Then came this other question, asking : What is our place in the succession of centuries? But what kind of trip are we talking about? Is this a one-way ticket or a perpetual round

What is the mysterious and restless development of X ?

trip? In any ways, this moving is hazardous, full of obstacles, fights between what we are and what we want to become, between childhood flying away and reality above us.

Among darken peripheries and centre of light, at the paths’ crossing, in the theatre of a spiral, all the world in a nutshell - all is nothing but a whirl of forces, a dance of atoms everything is up in the sky and down on earth at the same time. There, X has a line to stride, a passage in time and space to cross.

language to share. We elaborated a system of sequences, contrast of moving pictures, mixing dance, music, poetry and video. On stage, both interprets weave the journey of an anonymous character, lost in the twists and turns of the Metropolis.

- MOVEMENT / ACTING In an almost bare space, the character X evolves without ever following a classical dramatic line or a psychology. This work is about physical and interpretation research : largely inspired from every day movements, it is translated on stage by a system of simple signs easy to understand.

- TEXTS Written by Felipe Durand, born from a large collect of observations, experiences and travels, the texts have been constructed in French, English and Spanish - because every language carries its own cultural richness - in the mean of seeking for an universality that is in the centre of this work. The text is a living medium, coming right out from the deep inner of the human being.

- VIDEO The video element plays it’s role of stage design and lightning. The pictures embed themselves in the empty stage space to locate the character’s mental state of mind on one hand, but also to bring an element of set or a counterpoint of view on the action.

THE NEED The need To forget names The need to find A stolen game We need On the spur of the moment To forget the streets To forget Those fucked-up faces…. Blow by blow throughout the day we bump into it The zone’s playing us a stupid tricky - dirty - trap game To the night We step We step At the end of our trip & an unspeakable violence comes through me! We’re falling Falling Falling On an uncanny area Surrounded by people Cops Strange - staring eyes looking us With this stranger laying-out on the pavement Spasmodic & gurgling Whereas we begin to feel a real pang & pain!

Un chat à l’œil vitreux me regarde.

The Collectivo Infame has been created in 2007 in order to bring on stage the creation named Un Marsupial egare sur la 41 and is composed of Felipe Durand (writer and interpret) and Julie Rousse (music and video work). The project Un Marsupial egare sur la 41 is born from the desire to put on stage the poetic digressions on solitude and isolation of human being over the centuries, the rambling of a man of our time, facing a coercive system that cannot accept him and places him on the margins of the social fabric. The trajectory of the character shows the marks of an irreparable and used routine, revealing to us how an unique individual transforms himself in a drop more in the vast ocean. Totally anonymous, he is all at the same time a part of this lively mass - in which he is immersed (and from where he can’t escape) - and of the line of time flying by (which he can’t stop). Axed on a poetic of pictures, this work displays the everyday life of a character X, the fight that lives between a man and the rules that constrain him to a permanent confusion in the guts of the city. One human most forgotten in a time fold. Far from being a documental or fictional piece, it is more like a lively collage, close to performance, in the line of Butoh and physical theatre, some have said a theatre installation.

LUIS FELIPE DURAND RIOS Actor, Director and Author. Born 01 august 1969, in Tocopilla, Chile. Lives and works in Paris.

It is a long way through theatre, contemporary dance, mime and circus arts that he has built his dramatic-poetic universe, beginning in 1989, when invited in Montevideo’s Teatro Galpon, for a movement and teatral interpretation’s workshop. Then, in 1990, under Mauricio Celedon’s direction he will be one of the pioneer of the renowned Teatro del Silencio. He then works with many great directors, such as Juan Edmundo Gonzalez, Rodrigo Marquet, Aldo Parodi and Andres Perez. On this lively experience of stage he learns and goes deeper in the learning of rigourous techniques of mime : improvisation, masks, Commedia dell’ Arte and Kathakali Dance. In 1995, he arrives in France with the French-Chilean theatre Company Aleph, where he follows workshops of singing, voice, clown and contemporary dance, with choreographers Alejandro Ramos. As well he approaches different techniques like Theatre No, improvisation, contact and martial arts. He works on different plays, in street theatre and with the Cirque Baroque.

Since 2002, he has been writing and directing, beginning with the direction of Ephemeral Cabaret in Tasmania. Then, he writes and directs his own play Paraiso Perdido, primera parte, with Colectivo Proyecto Accion teatral in Valparaiso, Chile play for which he will be invited in a festival of South-American writers. In New-York, in 2003, he gives a workshop in Local Project (Queens), directs Sketches of Life and plays in the short film Circumstances. In 2005, he plays in Imitima under the direction of Agustin Letelier, and later in the year his text Personne n’ira au Paradis is selected in the Festival of New Dramaturgy from Latino-America which is played in the world famous Théâtre de l’Opprimé, in Paris, France. In 2006, he is invited to give a workshop on Theatre and bestiality in Valparaiso, Chile, that ends with the creation of Hombres pero bestias. Since 2007, he has been working on Un Marsupial égaré sur la 41, his last text so far, as well as continuing his explorations over movement and theatre, dance classes and writing.

JULIE ROUSSE Born in 1979. Lives and works in Paris. Composer / Improviser.

Self-taught sound artist, it is in theatre she made her first steps as a noise composer in Montreal. Collector of sounds she finds in the streets of the world, this raw material is for her an infinite source of rhythms and colours, which she shapes with real time sound treatment software - real time being the essential element of her spontaneous and chaotic approach. Her main idea is to regain an organic feeling in music by means of electronic devices and improvisational acts. She has developed her very own resonant and poetic universe, with a marked taste for abstract narration, turbulence of details and inextricable disorder of

She played with renowned sound artists such as Alexandre Saint-Onge, Martin Tetrault, Diane Labrosse, Alexis O'Hara, Crys Cole and Arnaud Rivière. She now works mainly solo since her return back from Montreal to Paris, multiplying experiences of collaboration with visual artists such as Thierry Van Hasselt (Graphic novels, Belgium), Georges Rousse (Photography, France), Felicie d'Estienne d'Orves (Video, France) and dancer / choreographer Karine Denault (Quebec, Canada).
