February 28, 2015 The President/Secretary/Cashier/Manager/Members La Cordee pour la Sante et la Solidarite 34 Montee des Penitents, 13250 Saint-Chamas France Subject: A Report Activities of Winter Education Coaching Program for School Students at Lingshed Area Residential Hostel Choglamsar Leh Respected Guy Pierre, Raymond, Jean Marie, Christian, Gilbert, Jacqueline, Members et Sponsors of La Cordee, There are two reasons to keep opening the residential hostel Choglamsar during winter vacation for the students, those who are studying in different schools in Leh. One Reason is a big tragedy happened in February year 2011. The five fathers of the school children/students trapped under the snow avalanched/snow landslide on the way returning/back to Lingshed village. In this connection, the weather conditions is very gender and risky for the parents for taking their children for winter vacations and bringing the children back for schooling in early spring season. Second Reason is the winter condition is very tough and difficult especially for the students/children to walk up and down. In winter a lot of snow falls down on the footpath way and the passes remained closed because of snow-bounced. The passes open in the month of May or June, which is late for schooling in Leh. Lingshed area students, those who study in different schools like Lamdon School, Moravian Mission School, Mahabodhi School, CIBS School, Government Higher Secondary Schools, New Millennium School, Druk Padmakarpo School and Degree College had been merged at Lingshed Area Residential Hostel Choglamsar Leh. The Board Committee Members organized the winter education coaching programs and arranged the teachers for teachings of different subjects for these students during winter vacation/holidays for 2 months in this residential hostel for the welfare of the students. During the winter coaching, about 72 students from 6 th class students to Degree College students had been participated from Lingshed area remote and rural villages, those students who are studying in different above-stated schools.

Lama Sandup is manager of the hostel, who was working hard and managing well to keep relationship with students, teachers and winter cooks during winter coaching for two months for benefits of the students.
We organized 7 teachers for teachings different subjects in Science, Maths, English, Urdu, Hindi, Education, History, Political Science, etc.
7 college students studied those who will appear in exams in April-May 2015.
10 students of 11th class studied, who will appear in exams in March 2015.
9 students of old 10th class studied, who will appear in exams in March 2015.
11 students of new 10th class studied, who passed 9th class in November 2014.
9 students of old 9th class studied, who will appear in exams in March 2015.
10 students of new 9th class studied, who passed 8th class in November 2014.
5 students of 8th class studied those who passed 7th class in November 2014.
7 students of 7th class studied those who passed 6th class in November 2014.
4 students of 6th class studied those who passed 5th class in November 2014.
As per feedback of the students are very satisfied with winter tuition organized and learnt different things during winter coaching. They are highly appreciated to the winter teachers had been helpful to them in solving their confused questions and facing problems in different subjects. It shows that the students are also satisfied with foods and overall provided facilities. The Education is the Key to Success for any kind of Development Activities in the rural and remote area villages. During winter tuition closing day, the students presents their proposals for next winter to organize the winter education tuition coaching from December 2015 to February 2016 for the welfare of students’ education development. A Human Resource Development is important for community development. This picture shows that the teacher is teaching to these students in the class during winter education coaching. The students are studying environmental science. The students are reading in 10th class. The students from tribal area villages are working hard and studying well in their different subjects. They are eager to become educated person.
A teacher is teaching to 8th class students in hostel. These students are studying science subject. In summer time, they are studying in other schools and staying at residential hostel. These students are from remote and rural villages in Himalaya. They are happy to study together subjects and share their knowledge for each other in the class and during stay in hostel. This picture shows that students are doing and preparing self studies in the class. They are working hard. These students are in 9th class, but they are studying in different schools, not in one school. Due to blockage of the road, they are provided winter tuition, accommodation and lodgingboarding facilities for 2 months. They have a heating stove in the hall and it uses woods for heating during their studying and reading.
