SAINIVALATI S. NAVOTI PRESIDENT OF SEABED ASSEMBLY FOR 2006
Mr. Sainivalati S. Navoti, Legal Counsel at the Fiji Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York since 2004, was on Thursday , 10 August 2006, elected President of the 12th session of the International Seabed Authority currently underway in Kingston, Jamaica. Mr. Navoti, head of the Fiji delegation to the Authority’s 12th session, was Vice President of the United Nations Review Conference of the Fishstock Agreement. From 2001 to 2004, he was Legal Adviser to the Fiji Public Service Commission. Before then, he was Legal Counsel to the Republic of Fiji Armed Forces with the rank of Captain.
Mr. Navoti holds a B.A. and LL.B from the University of Auckland in New Zealand and a Diploma in Legislative Drafting from Rhodes Academy of Ocean Affairs and Policy, Greece.
