Instruction for Flange Alignement Kit The flange alignement kit is intended for use when installing the two opposite process flanges on the measurement volume. It consists of a light source, two flanges and an aiming tool. The light source is a halogen lamp with a wide beam angle and can consequently be mounted on non aligned process flange (which will be the case when the first flange is aligned).

Procedure

6. 7.

Weld the process flanges loosely to the measurement volume - they should be possible to align with a rubber hammer. Mount the alignement kit as illustrated to the right Alignement Turn on the light kit flange Halogen source light source Adjust the focus on the aiming tool so the image of the light source is sharp. Align the process flange (marked red here) using for instance a rubber hammer. The flange is aligned when the light source image is centered on the aiming tool. Do the final welding on this flange Go through the same procedure (point 2 through 6 above) for the opposite flange

Reading of error angle using the Flange alignement tool The graph to the right shows the angle error as a function of the light spot distance from the center at the limits of the focal distance setting of the tool. It shows that the ±2 deg demand is met if the spot is inside the fifth ring on the aiming tool – in other words if the spot is inside a circle with a 5 mm radius.
