Using the Signlab e6 Design Environment Part 2 – How to Use Color Managment SignLab color management is used to make the monitor display image colors as they will appear when printed. For proofs rendered on a desktop printer, it is possible to emulate colors as if they were produced on a large format printer. In this way, proofs will be more capable of representing the final product. 1.

You must first have installed ICM profiles from the various manufacturers of the devices in question (Printers, monitor). These profiles are usually available on the websites of the respective manufacturers. Once installed into windows, these profiles will become available to Signlab automatically.

2.

In Signlab select “Signlab Setup >> Color Management” from the Options menu. The following screen will appear.

3.

Place a check mark in the Enable Color Management checkbox

4.

If you only wish to make your monitor display what your printer will output, select the Basic color management radio button. If you are actually proofing the results from a larger printer, choose the Proofing radio button.

5.

Select the monitor profile currently in use by your display adapter in the Monitor profile drop down list.

6.

Select the printer profile currently in use by your printer in the printer profile drop down list (note that only those profiles for the Default printer will appear, so you might have to go into your Control Panel… Printers area to set that printer as your default.) If you only wish for the monitor to show what will print out of your printer, you are done and can click on the Apply button and then on OK. If you are trying to emulate another printer, continue onto step 7.

7.

Select the printer profile currently in use by your printer in the Emulated device Profile drop down list. Once this is done, Click on the Apply button and then on the OK button.
