HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM

and to give you the speaking in tongues that comes from Him.

We meet as well false teachers, who teach that speaking in tongues is not for all believers. They twist the sense of 1 Corinthians 12:30 to defend their going astray. Know that in 1 Corinthians 12:10 and 12:28, God tells us about the diversity of tongues, which has nothing to do with the promise of speaking in tongues which the Lord has made for all those who believe in Him, in Mark 16:17.

HAVING THE HOLY SPIRIT AND BEING BAPTIZED IN THE HOLY SPIRIT Remember that there is a difference between having the Holy Spirit and the fact of being baptized into the Holy Spirit. Each time somebody invites Jesus Christ in his life Wholeheartedly, the Lord comes immediately by His Holy Spirit to dwell in him. From that time, the person has the Holy Spirit, but is not yet baptized into the Holy Spirit. The case of Apollos in Acts 18:24-26 confirms this. “a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.” We see here that he was teaching the exact way of the word of God, although he knew only the baptism of John, that is to say he was baptized only in water. He was therefore not yet baptized into the Holy Spirit. If he could teach exactly the word, that just means it was the Holy Spirit doing the work in him. He already had the Holy Spirit, but was not yet baptized into the Holy Spirit. Other ignorant people say that it was on the day of Pentecost that the disciples received the Holy Spirit. Don’t make this error! The disciples were baptized with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), but they already had the Holy Spirit. They received the Holy Spirit when the Lord breathed on them. That is what we see in John 20:19-23 “…After these words, He breathed on them and said: receive the Holy Spirit…”

true child of God can accurately understand the word of God, and even teach it, but he remains limited. If the baptism into the Holy Spirit were not so important in our spiritual life, God would not have promised Him to us. God knows that without this baptism we would lack the power of the Holy Spirit that would enable us to confront the various struggles on the way and also to resist the devil. It was for this reason that the Lord advised the disciples in Acts 1:4-5, not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the power of the Holy Spirit. It was also for this reason that Aquila and Priscilla in Acts 18:26 took Apollos with them and explained to him the exact ways of the Lord.

The disciples followed the recommendations of the Lord. They first waited to receive the power of the Holy Spirit before getting into the ministry. After the day of Pentecost, the effect of the baptism of the Holy Spirit on the disciples became quite visible. They were filled with the power; zeal, anointing, wisdom, intelligence and courage for the Lord’s service. The disciples who were almost trembling became completely transformed, clothed with the power of the Holy Spirit. Know then, beloved, that you cannot serve the Lord without being clothed with the power of the Holy Spirit. You should not therefore fall in the trap of demons who will tell you that we don’t need the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Nevertheless, know that the baptism into the Holy Spirit is not necessary a sign that we are saved. If you meet the so called pastors or servants of God who deny and fight against the baptism into the Holy Spirit, you will immediately recognize therefore that there are agents of satan; there are so many of them in the Church today. Of this number are those who say that the baptism into the Holy Spirit was only for the first disciples. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you! Contact and FREE Subscription:

JESUS CHRIST IS COMING BACK NEWS OF THE END TIMES

HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM Dear brethren, in order for you to fully understand this teaching, please read it with your Bible at hand, to check all the verses mentioned as you read. And you happen to read it without your Bible at hand, please read it again with your Bible. Beloved in the Lord, and all of you who read this teaching, may the peace of God be with you! I bless the Lord God, the father of our Master and Lord Jesus Christ, who has granted me this grace in His faithfulness to complete this teaching on Baptisms, which I started in our newsletter Vol.6 in which I talked about Water Baptism. In this volume I will be talking of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire. In order to make this teaching as complete as possible, I will enumerate all the questions the brethren often ask themselves, and the teaching will consist of answering each of these questions. Though the biblical teaching on baptisms is not difficult to understand, false teachings have so much created confusion in the minds of the brethren that each time they find themselves asking questions that shouldn’t be asked.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Is there a Holy Spirit baptism apart and baptism of fire apart? Who baptises in the Holy Spirit? Who can be baptised in the Holy Spirit? When should one be baptised in the Holy Spirit? Where can one be baptised in the Holy Spirit? Must each child of God be baptised in the Holy Spirit? How to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Is speaking in tongues a sign of baptism in the Holy Spirit? Can one be baptised in the Holy Spirit without speaking in tongues? Can a child of God’s speaking in tongues cease? Is the Holy Spirit baptism a sign that we are

saved? Is there any difference between Having the Holy Spirit and Being baptised in the Holy Spirit?

BAPTISM OF HOLY SPIRIT AND FIRE “BAPTISM”. Let us read the following passages: Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1:33, and Acts 1:5. Matthew 3:11 “indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Mark 1:8 “indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” Luke 3:16 “answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. ” John 1:33 “did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, “Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1:5 “John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” When we examine the above verses, we clearly understand that there is no difference between being

HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM

“ baptized in the Holy Spirit and fire” as used in Matthew 3:11 and Luke 3:16, and being baptized in the Holy Spirit used in Mark 1:8, John 1:33 and Acts 1:5. Let me now draw your attention on what creates confusion. If you examine carefully the passages referred to, you will notice that there is no mention of fire baptism anywhere. The Bible talks of baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire, but you won’t find the expression “baptism of fire” anywhere. In conclusion, speaking of baptism of Holy Spirit and fire, or just speaking of baptism of the Holy Spirit is the same thing. There is no difference between the two. There are some false teachers who try to explain the baptism of fire, until stating when one receive this baptism and how to know that one had received it. There are some demonic doctrines explaining that the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire constitutes two baptisms: one (that is baptism in the Holy Spirit) being for children of God, and the other (fire baptism) being the fire of hell for those who disobey God. This shows you to what extent some have gone astray, creating satanic doctrines, which have nothing to do with the doctrine of Christ.

WHO CAN BE BAPTIZED IN THE HOLY SPIRIT? Luke 11:13 teach us that everyone with well disposed heart before God, can be baptized with the Holy Spirit. “You then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”

WHEN CAN ONE BE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT? The Bible teaches that the Lord Jesus Christ alone baptizes with the Holy Spirit. He does it when he wants. But everything depends on the disposition of our hearts. From then, one can be baptized of the Holy Spirit anywhere: in an assembly, in the waters of baptism, in one’s room while praying, etc. When we meditate on Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8, and Acts 1:5 cited above, we deduce that Holy Spirit baptism follows waters baptism. But in Acts10: 44-47, we find a group of brethren who have had the privilege of being baptized with the Holy Spirit before having water baptism. Acts 10:44-47 “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard

the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” This makes us understand that the Lord, who knows the hearts, can baptize some of his children with the Holy Spirit before water baptism. But I will like to warn you against false practices seen in pernicious sects today. In most of these satanic churches, mistakenly called “Pentecostal churches”, they distribute what they call baptism in the “holy spirit”. They initiate their followers into witchcraft by teaching them how to speak satan’s language. And when these people are initiated and begin speaking these tongues of satan, they tell them they are baptized in the “holy spirit”. That is why there are many hardened up people today who speak in tongues, and who believe to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, whereas none of them ever was baptized in water. Get this well, beloved brethren, what God did in the case of Cornelius and the brethren in Acts 10:4447, He can still do it today. We are not surprised therefore to see some children of God who have the privilege to be baptized with the Holy Spirit before being baptized in water. But these cases are not so frequent. And for those who receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit without being baptized in water, if at all it is a true Holy Spirit baptism, they are pushed by the Spirit of God in them to rapidly seek water baptism. If therefore you meet people who pretend to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues, and who for all this time have not sought water baptism, and who believe to be saved, tell them they are being used by satan and not God. Tell them that it is demons speaking in tongues through them, and not the Holy Spirit. And if you meet people who speak in tongues, but who refuse water baptism, just know that they are demons.

MUST EACH TRUE CHILD OF GOD BE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT? To answer this question, we will examine on top the verses cited above ie Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1:33, Luke 11:13 and Acts 1:5, other verses such as Mark 16:17, Acts 2:38, Acts 15:8.

HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM

Mark 16:17 “these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;” Acts 2:38 “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”. These passages show us that God’s promise for the baptism of the Holy Spirit is for all His children, and not just for some. In Mark 16:17, the promise to speak in new tongues is given to all those who will believe in Jesus, and not to few persons. Acts 15:8 tells us that: “So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us.” Get this therefore, each child of God must be baptized in the Holy Spirit, and speak in tongues.

HOW TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM? Acts 2:1 – 4 (below) and Acts 10:44 – 47 (already quoted above), show us that we can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit without any human intervention. Acts 2:1-4: “the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 8:14 – 17 and 19: 6 show us that one can receive this same baptism by the laying of hands. Acts 8 14 – 17 “when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.” Acts 19:6 “And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.” It all depends on the disposition of our hearts.

SPEAKING IN TONGUES Can one be baptized with the Holy Spirit without speaking in tongues? The answer is No. We saw while examining Mark 16:17, that the promise to

speak in new tongues is for all those who believe in Christ Jesus, without exception. Acts 2:4 shows us that all were filled with the Holy Spirit, and spoke in new tongues. Acts 10: 44 – 46 confirms this teaching. It is because of speaking in tongues that the circumcised Christians knew that the Gentiles were baptized with the Holy Spirit. Acts 19:6 also confirm this. Acts 8: 16 – 17 confirms this teaching the more. How did the brethren know that the Samaritans were not baptized with the Holy Spirit? Because they did not see this sign that should show that one is baptized with the Holy Spirit, that is speaking in tongues. When Peter and John laid hands on them, they received the Holy Spirit. How did they know that they were baptized with the Holy Spirit? Because they saw the sign. Speaking in tongues is therefore the visible sign that we are baptized in the Holy Spirit.

CAN THE SPEAKING IN TONGUES OF A CHILD OF GOD CEASE? No. The Bible teaches us that God does not repent of His gifts. If God is the one who gives you the gift of speaking in tongues, He will not withdraw it.

WITCHCRAFT PRACTICES Let us now review certain witchcraft practices noticed here and there in certain Pentecostal and charismatic movements. I earlier mentioned certain practices of satanic Pentecostal and charismatic movements as practised today. They distribute at will what they call “holy spirit” baptism, and they teach people how to speak in tongues. Some ask people to open their mouths and say Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia many times, without stopping, and this end up being their speaking in tongues. Others ask people to open their mouth and say A A A B B B C C C, etc. and to accelerate the rhythm, or to say ABC many times, and then CBA, many times as well, accelerating the rhythm, and all that ends by being what they call “speaking in tongues”. Know this well! It is an initiation into witchcraft. Those teaching these satanic practices are demons. All of you children of God, examine now in what manner you have received your speaking in tongues. If you have been a victim of one of these abominable practices, know that you have been initiated into witchcraft. It’s not the Holy Spirit you received, but evils spirits. The tongues you speak is not of God. You need to repent and ask God to deliver you from such impure spirits that use you. After that, pray and ask the Lord to baptize you with His Holy Spirit,
