Peekskill MPG The fireball that eventually became the peekskill meteorite was witnessed over several states. A single stone of 12,370 grams was recovered, in additiion to about 200 grams in fragments. At the the time of it's final plunge toward Earth, 18 year old Michelle Knapp was with her family in her home on Wells street, Peekskill, New York. A single stone slammed into the back of her 1980 Chevy Malibu, which was parked in the driveway. The stone actually went through the car and came to rest underneath it. The meteorite was photographed and videotaped by many people along it's flight path and because of this, it is only the fourth meteorite in history to have a known orbit.
