Happy New Year
2010 Dear Partners,
La Chapelle des Fougeretz, January 7, 2010
I hope that you had a very good Christmas and New Year holiday in your families, in your churches and with your friends. Again this year, we prepared the Christmas student party with the other Christian group GBU, to have a testimony on campus.
More than forty young people came, of whom ten were non Christians. Together we spent a wonderful evening, gourmet with the
multitude of cookies and French, German or Czech specialties, fun with the games and a quiz, and deep with Jean-Noël's testimony, a student who accepted Christ this summer because of the testimony in word and life of Paul, a student from last year. The very same
week, initiated by our colleague Melissa and a student Joël, we went to sing Christmas carols in a retirement home. A way of blessing and bringing His light also to our seniors.
From December 27 to January 1, I then went to the National New Year Camp, which CCC organizes for the students each
year. Around 120 people were gathered at Thonon-les-Bains, with the largest delegation ever from Rennes (13 young people and 6 staff)! The Lord was waiting for us. So many wonderful
things happened during the camp. Zefan, a Chinese student who has been searching spiritually with our colleagues in Toulouse, announced to us that he accepted the Lord.
Sophie, a student in Rennes this year, had brought Eliezer
who had discovered faith this summer through her testimony
during a semester abroad together in Canada and the Paris CCC summer project. The evangelism outreach went very well also, with a local population which was welcoming and
fairly interested. I really enjoyed this time with Alexis, a Gabonese student.
PRAYER REQUESTS
- January 11-15: week of unity for Christians: we will participate in several events in Rennes, among young people and social groups with our I'm hungry outreach.
- Januray 22: the city event “Éveil de sens” (Awakening of Senses/Meaning), a creative evening based on a photo exhibit of the vine in John 15 by a colleague, with other elements of taste, sound, etc. Pray for the contacts (parents of our kids' friends more than students) we are inviting, that they would come and that God gives them open hearts.
- February 21-27: campus directors' conference and national retreat for CCC staff in France
- March 7: projection of the Magdalena movie in Rennes, working with different churches of Rennes - April 9-11: national student weekend retreat on Missions and discerning one's call
- April 11-19: spring break camp in Belgium in partnership with the association Serve the City and collaborating with a church of
Wallonie (French-speaking part of Belgium) to bring a French testimony and encourage the Christians of this region. The pastor of this church speaks of it as a spiritual desert.
Laurie, Zacharie and Gabrielle join me in wishing you a beautiful and happy year 2010, in the grace and under the protection of our Lord.
With you to make Jesus known to students in 2010,
Yannick
