HANDLE THE INFORMATION

Today I got a case scenario about how to handle the information in health and social care. Case scenario: Edwina Ponsonby, 79 years of age, has been admitted as an emergency to your care over the weekend. You have been identified as her key worker. Mrs Ponsonby is asleep when you first go to see her and as she looks very frail you decide to wait a while before you go to talk to her. The staff members who were on duty over the weekend have left the building so you go in search of some documentation relating to her admission. ① What documents are you going to look for in order to find out some initial information on Mrs Ponsonby? To know more about Edwina, I gonna check first the report from the hospital, the care plan, the food and drink diary, the map of life, others information like a diary to know more about her. I gonna ask myself the following questions: Does she take any medication? What about the food and drink diary, is she on normal food? soft diet? pureed meal? fortified milk? any difficulty swallowing? does she need "thick and easy" ② Are these documents confidential? YES! all these informations are confidential. Page 1 of 1
