The Order Book Window To access the Order Book window, click on the Trading Tools icon, then Order Book. The Order Book window is designed to facilitate order follow-up. Several Order Book windows can be opened at the same time. In the Limit Position column (L), the indicator ( ~ ) is used to display the estimated position of an order in the market depth before market acknowledgement. Implied strategies are indicated by the label Implied in the Type column. If you choose to display only a few columns in the window, and if the window is stretched to a large enough size, the data will scroll so that the columns are repeated several times.

Quick Order Entry To quickly send a Buy, Sell or Cross order, type the instruction in the line above the column headers with the following format: quantitysymbolprice, including the prefix (for example 1000FTE25).

New Discards all changes and resets the strategy creation list. Type Enables you to create a strategy from a predefined template. Select a strategy from the Type combo box, and the strategy creation list is automatically filled based on the selected strategy. The below example shows the predefined strategy creation list for a Call Butterfly.

The yellow color indicates that the field is mandatory and has to be filled. The red color indicates that the field is not used for this particular strategy. You may still enter information in the field, and the strategy will be adapted accordingly. However, if a padlock appears in the cell, you cannot enter any information. The dark grey color indicates that the field will be generated by the Strategy Builder. Note: In the above example the ‘+’ sign indicates that you have to select a strike higher than the strike of the previous leg.

Manually Creating Legs If you input the legs individually, you can still check which predefined strategies are available with your already-entered parameters. You can enter legs in any order as the Strategy Builder will identify the strategy you require. If none of the pre-configured strategies apply, the only option visible in the Type combo box is User defined. However, if the Strategy Builder finds strategies that match the already-entered information, a list of possible strategies is generated and offered to you. Click on a proposed strategy in the Type combo box to apply the template to the strategy creation list. Refer to the the Strategy Watch -> Dictionary section for descriptions of the fields to be filled. Once the strategy is ready, the Code field of the Entry Box displays the symbol of the strategy, ready for trading. Strategy legs can be visualised in the Legs Details section, shown below. The information in this section is updated in real-time.

User Enables you to immediately create user defined strategies. Once a user-defined strategy is created on the market it will no longer exist as a user defined strategy. If the strategy does not match the templates stored in GL STREAM WS, the Type combo box will display Unlisted. After the strategy is created (either user defined, or exchange strategy), the Entry Box is able to trade on that strategy.

Sends or Aborts selected orders as Trigger Pending orders (according to the SLE Trading server version). Create VWAP Order Creates a virtual VWAP order. This virtual order enables you to compare the Market Period VWAP calculation and the average price for selected orders (Trader VWAP). Note: VWAP orders can only be calculated for executed orders (status TX), on the same side (buy or sell), and on the same instrument. For more information about VWAP types, please refer to the general VWAP description in the section Fills By Instrument -> Different VWAP Types in the GL WIN V5 windows. Remove VWAP Removes a VWAP order already contained in the Order Book window.

VWAP Calculation mode Enables you to either enter a specific time range, or to calculate the VWAP for the entire Trading Session duration. Specify a time phase in the VWAP calculation mode section (From HH/MM/SS To HH/MM/SS), or tick Trading Session.

Example Click on the + / - column. The VWAP virtual node opens and you can see selected orders. You can compare your VWAP (AveP column) to the corresponding market Period VWAP (Pd.VWAP column).

In this example the trader has bought 500 ROU08 at an average price (AveP column) of 19.41636 between 13:19:48 and 13:34:39.

ƒ

The corresponding period VWAP between these two hours is : 19.446651 (Pd.VWAP column).

ƒ

The green colour indicates that the trader has bought at a better price than the Market VWAP during this period (a red colour would indicate that the trader has bought at a worse price than the Market VWAP during this period).

Market Impact Zone Displays the estimated executed quantity, average price, number of executions and the potential market impact based on real-time market conditions. There are two ways to use the Market Impact Zone:

ƒ ƒ

Market Impact for an Order Simulated Market Impact

Market Impact for an Order The default usage of the Market Impact Zone feature is for the expected impact of the order parameters that are currently configured in the main section of the Entry Box. In the example below, after typing the quantity and limit, the expected impacts are displayed at the bottom of the Entry Box. In this case, 14,891 of the 20,000 shares would be matched against 15 different sell orders at an average price of 75.04.

Simulated Market Impact The alternative mode for the Market Impact Zone feature enables you to type in fictitious quantities and prices to run order simulations. You can enter figures in the two editable two white fields, Qty and Limit, then instantly see what the average price, number of executions and market impact would be without affecting the attributes of your actual order. Note: As shown in the example below, the trader has prepared an order to pay 74.95 for 20 000 SAN but is running a simulation on an order to pay 75.05 for 50 000. If the trader sends the order at this time, it is the Buy 20 000 @ 74.95 order that will be sent, not the 50 000 share order that is being simulated.

Summary and Calculation Opens the Summary and Calculation window, which performs a range of calculations on selected orders. The Summary and Calculation window is displayed as a table with two main sections.

Note: Only one Summary & Calculation window can be opened per Order Book. The calculations will therefore be performed on the orders that you select in the corresponding Order Book. To select the orders, ensure that the selection (Sel) column is showing, then check the orders you wish to run the calculations on. Important: The following are important notes to bear in mind when using the Summary and Calculation window: - Value calculations are useful for equities markets. They are not disabled for futures and options, but will not be useful for these markets. - When more than one order is selected, all numbers are cumulated or averaged depending on the column. - When a parent order and one or more of its child orders are selected, the child order selection is ignored. This avoids doubling up on the parent and child quantities. - The simulation lines are only calculated on the remaining quantity of the selected order(s). The simulation lines ignore any selected closed orders.

Window Layout The first four rows (the Summary section) offer calculations on the order(s) as they exist in the Order Book with the price(s) that have been attributed by the trader to each order. The default line colours are retrieved from the theme’s colors for Buy, Sell and Cross. You can modify these colors by selecting Display -> Colors. The bottom six rows (Simulation section) display similar information but instead of using the configured price for the order, they show what is expected to be executed if the orders are completed at the first opposite limit, second opposite limit, and so on, given the current state of the market depth for each instrument.

The Display Menu The Display menu enables you to configure the parameters of the Summary and Calculation window. The menu options are as follows.

Calculation Interval Enables you to choose one of the following calculation intervals; Automatic, 2 Seconds, 5 Seconds, 10 Seconds, Manual.

Documentation issued by CertEx

GL WIN 7.1.1 User Guide – Trading Tools

67

The Automatic setting updates all of the calculations as soon as anything changes in the feed, whereas the other settings place the interval at the specified timing. Note: You are encouraged to use the slowest update rate that is deemed acceptable in order to minimise CPU usage, especially on very actively traded instruments.

Currency Enables you to convert currencies in calculations, thus offering true multi-market capability. The “currency.prm” file is used to convert currencies, with the Euro being the base currency against which others are converted. The application is delivered with EUR as the only currency. Currencies can be added to the sumwnd.ini file that is generated the first time that the window is launched, as shown here: [CALCULATION] Currency1=EUR Currency2=USD Currency3=GBX Currency4=GBP Currency5=JPY SelectedCurrency=GBX Note: The currency code used must be the same code as in the currency.prm file. Once more than one currency is set-up, the currency can be selected. The calculation engine retrieves each instrument’s currency from the feed and uses this information to convert values to the desired currency via the conversion rate specified in the currency.prm file. The window’s title bar shows the number of selected orders and the selected currency.

Refresh Enables you to receive messages in real-time. All new information will be displayed at the end of the list. You need to reactivate the sort.

Activate confirmation This function is only available if you work in the Normal mode display. When the Activate confirmation is selected, a column Confirm appears in the Execution history window. This column allows you to tick executions when needed. The timestamp is displayed in the column.

Procedure: Select an execution There are two ways to tick an execution :

ƒ ƒ

a mouse click on the desired execution,

hit the keyboard space on the desired execution. Repeat the action to untick the execution. Display The Confirm column uses three flags according to the status of the execution :

ƒ ƒ ƒ

" " : No data indicates that you have not ticked the execution. "..." : Ellipsis indicates that you have ticked this line and the timestamp is being posted. A timestamp indicates that you have ticked this line and it is recorded with a time of 15:06:55.

Sort option It is possible to do sorting on the Confirm column.

ƒ

A simple click on the column header will sort the lines from non selected executions, lines awaiting a timestamp and ticked lines.

ƒ ƒ

A second click will display selected lines, timestamp in progress and non ticked lines. A third click will cancel the sort.

Remarks: Sort is indicated with an arrow in the column title field. If the window is refreshed in real time, all executions are displayed at the end of the list to avoid errors on checks. As soon as the execution history mode display is changed, the Confirm column disappears as it is not relevant in consolidation modes (by order, by instrument or by instrument and account). All information is however saved. You can see an execution history on x days (generally 10 days) by defining it on the SLE. To do that, indicate a date in the Date field of the Execution history view dialog box.

ƒ ƒ ƒ ƒ ƒ ƒ

Total quantity of executed bids (long position-cumulated).

ƒ ƒ ƒ ƒ

Quantity remaining for working bids (Cumulated).

Average price for bids. Average price for offers. Total quantity of executed offers (short position-Cumulated). Net price difference between bids and offers (rounding to the nearest whole number). Type in the upper and lower alert thresholds in the less than < and greater than > columns. 2. If the value of the instrument reaches one of the limits, an alert is generated in the form of a sound alert and a news message. The field is highlighted as well as the instrument identification (symbol, name etc.), in a colour which you can specify in the Highlight field of the Colors dialog. If the alert field or the instrument itself is disabled (an X is shown in the Active column), the highlight is deactivated. 3. To set a trigger for RFQs, specify a minimum number of RFQs to appear on the market before an alert is generated, by entering a number in the > column.
