John Lennon was born in 1940 in Liverpool, England. He was the man who first started The Beatles. He didnt have a happy childhood and an easy life, his parents in fact got divorced when John was 4th, and after 14 years his mother died and Johns father was too engaged in his job to stay with him. He lived with his aunt and after the master school he went to an art school, where he met two important person for his life: his first wife Cyntia Powell, who gave birth to Johns a together Julian in 1962, and Paul McCartney. He created a group with Paul who introduced George Harrison too. After few years John came up with the name Beatles for the group and they became famous. John divorced from Cynthia and re-married with Yoko Ono and The Beatles were writing many beautiful songs like Please Please Me. In 1970 The Beatles broke up and he started his solo career. He tried to send out his dream for the world and his idealism with his first solo album Imagine. He started to sing with Yoko in Plastic Ono Band. In 1972 while the Vietnam War protest was at its top and the Feminist Movement was in a stage of awakening, Lennon gave a charity concert to help and improve the living conditions of the mentally handicapped children, and a series of rock concerts as his statement of Peace and Love and spotlight various social issues. Lennon was always fighting for peoples right. In 1973 he Yoko got divorced, he started to drink. He worked with many famous singers but after two years he went back to Yoko. In 1975 they have a son Sean and Lennon stopped singing to stay with his family, but only five years. In 1980 John Lennon was walking in front of his apartment in New York and died, but not his songs which are very famous and popular also today. •Do you know John Lennons songs? •Do you like them? •What is your favourite song? Why?

GALILEO (GALILEI) (b. Feb. 15, 1564, Pisa-d. 8, 1642, arretri, near Florence), mathematician, astronomer, and physicist, considered a founder of the experimental method. Galileo studied medicine at the University of Pisa and mathematics with aprivate tutor. After completing a treatise on the centre of gravity in solids, he became lecturer in mathematics at the University of Padua as a professor of mathematics. Galileos conflict whit the Church arose over his support of the Copernican theory - that the planets revolve around the Sun. A substantial part of his work is related to meccanics, and he was the frist to apply mathematics to its analysis. He suggested the use of pendulum for clocks and proposed the law of uniform acceleration for falling bodies. Galileo developed the astronomical telescope, with which he discovered craters on the moon, sunspots, phases of Mercury, and the satellites of Jupiter. He showed that the Milky Way is composed of stars. QUESTIONS : Do you know Galilei ? Do you think that he is an important man ? What did Galileo discover ? Who was Copernico ?
