I have found a new joy in knotting with my retail business. The Coupeville Farmers Market has been a boon for me. I have found a loyal and diversified customer base. There is great pleasure in finding a market for heirloom quality knot work. I am assembling a portfolio for display at market as well as using it to promote tutorials and classes. The following text and illustrations are intended to be one portion of thoes tutorials. The Ashley Book of Knots is my authority and quotations are attributed as “ABOK #.....” with chapter and verse. Thank You, Roy.

Here are the knots that were used to craft the “Elizabeth Belt”: The basic design is from, ABOK # 3730;

The Carrick Bend or Josephine Knot, ABOK #1439 aka #2361 provides the body of the

belt:

The 4 strand Mathew Walker, ABOK #678 gathers the strands for sinnet making;

4 Strand Round Sinnet by the Square Sinnet Method, ABOK # 2999 provides an adjustable tail and pendant:

A Crown and Diamond of 4 strands, ABOK #708 terminates the sinnet and splits out 4 strands again for more work.

Twist Braid, ABOK #s 569 to 571 is used to enhance the cord before the tassels:

Finally 4 tassels are made using ABOK # 3595, a four strand Mathew Walker as the base;
