FIS MASTERS CUP & FIS MASTERS SOUTH AMERICAN CUP 2012 SHORT REPORT by Stefano Arnhold The Alpine Masters events in South America this year were held in the Chilean resorts of Valle Nevado and El Colorado. Although we had excellent snow conditions on the race courses, it was a year of poor snow falls and the resort of La Parva had to close its operations to the public on September 9th. So the Calendar had the following adjustments: 15-09 Valle Nevado GS FMC (BRA) – changed to SAC* 16-09 Valle Nevado SG SAC (BRA) – changed to FMC* 17-09 La Parva SG FMC (CHI) – changed to a GS in EL Colorado 18-09 La Parva SL FMC (CHI) – changed to EL Colorado *= to permit one FMC of each event SG, GS and SL Both Ski Resorts presented an excellent level of organization and top skiers from 12 nations attended the races: BRA

CAN

CHI

CZE

FIN

FRA

All events counted for the FIS Alpine Masters South American Cup 2012 and overall medals were awarded to the SAC Champions in each age class. Three events counted also for the FIS Masters Cup that for the eight year held its opening races in the Southern Hemisphere An excellent level of racing was achieved with various Masters World Champions participating and a total of € 343,00 will be paid into the Masters Fund. In the name of Mrs Camila Margozzini I want to thank the resort of El Colorado and in the name of Ricardo Margulis, Ricardo Almeida, Myriam Torralbo and Diego Rojas the resort of Valle Nevado for the excellent organization. Special thanks for the FIS TD Rainer Grob (CHI) who did an outstanding job leading the jury in important decisions (specially in the SL on the 18th that was held under extreme weather conditions) and Tatjana Luessy, Francesco Cattaneo and Daniel Defago at the FIS office. Last, but not least, our Chilean friends from the Masters Club of Chile lead by its President Roberto Koifman with the special help of Sergio Parot, without whom those events would not be possible.
