Fell-runner in a race with a car to help repair Nether Wasdale church Will you help repair St Michaels All Saints Church at Nether Wasdale? If you have visited Britain’s favourite view you almost certainly passed this lovely little church. In January the church roof was severely damaged in storms and the building is temporarily out of use. Ian Davies and his father, Andrew, feel that they owe a great deal to Nether Wasdale as the village instilled such love for the Wasdale valley that they have both become “completers” of the Wainwright 214 fells. Ian completed his in one calendar year but Andrew took 31 years. Ian has become a passionate fell-runner (he is a member of Keswick fell-runners club) and has challenged Andrew to race from Wasdale Head to Seathwaite on Sunday 27th April starting at midday. Ian will run the 10 km via the 2949 ft summit of Great Gable and Andrew will drive round the north-western Lake District via Keswick. The only rule is that neither competitor may exceed the speed limit.
