Invitation to the Conference on "The participation of young people with fewer opportunities" – 3 and 4 March 2008 in Brussels

Dear Mr. Mida-Briot, On behalf of the European Commission, I have the pleasure to invite a representative and a youth worker of your organization to attend a conference organized by the Directorate General for Education and Culture, in cooperation with the Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, on 3 and 4 March 2008 in Brussels on The participation of young people with fewer opportunities. This conference will focus on the socio-economically most deprived young people and will aim at reflecting, on the basis of an exchange of good practices, how to encourage their participation. The discussions of the civil society at this conference will enrich the outcomes of a recent peer-learning exercise between Member States on the same topic. A synthesis of all results should then be presented at the next meeting of the Directors General in the ministries in charge of Youth and at the Council on Education, Youth and Culture on 21 and 22 May 2008.
