We are pleased to invite you to Dessel, Belgium for round 9 & 10 of the 2009 BMX European championship for junior and elite riders. The city of Dessel is located in the north of Belgium, just 10 min. away from the border with The Netherlands. Dessel has a population of 10.000 inhabitants and the village has a rather ‘countryside’ character with lots of woods, grassfields and lakes. Furthermore it is known for the unique crossing point of two water canals and the clearest white sand for making al kinds of glass. Dessel has also lots of supermarkets, bakeries, pubs, sportclubs, restaurants etc. Dessel is the hometown of the world famous hardrock music festival “Graspop Metal Meeting” and former 5 times world champion motocross Joël Smets who is a proud board member of the organizing club “Off-Road Club BMX 2000 DESSEL” BMX 2000 DESSEL has 130 licensed riders, 7 coaches and every week 3 days of training, 2 groups a night and a mountainbike training program for kids under 15 years of age. Practical info: Entrance fee • Children under 16 free • One day ticket 12 € • Two day ticket 20 € Catering You can find hot and cold food next to the track and all kinds of drinks in the big tent. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday during practice and racing. There are bakeries, supermarkets and restaurants at 1.5 km from the track in the center off Dessel. Camping and hotels The riders camping site is located 700 meters from the track, follow the signs, CAMPING BMX. Electricity, water and toilets are available 24/24 hours. Price for the whole event is 50 € p/place The camping site is open on: 29 may 8.00 h - 23.00 h Saturday 30 may from 7.00 h until Sunday 31 may 23.00 h Reservations can be made on the following address: [email protected] For hotels in the region see attached list. Parking Car parking is located 500 meters from the track, follow the signs PARKING BMX. It is not allowed to park your car against the main road next to the track Team tents It is not allowed to set up tents next to the track, only UEC registered teams are allowed in the team paddocks. Bike parc There are no bikes allowed in the public area, there is a bike parc next to the parc fermé and team paddock.
