Ladies and gentlemen, You've just started to read the latest official BUSHMEN's biography. The BUSHMEN ? Who are they ? Do they still exist ? Yes ! they're still on the go ... and they have just sent you, thanks to PUZZLE RAMP Rds, their latest 7 titles "WAR AND SODA". For those who weren't there at the beginning, a short background summary is necessary. The BUSHMEN was founded in 1994, a few months before the "fête de la musique" to play a few cover versions (HUSKER DU, PEGBOY, SUPERSUCKERS, COSMIC PSYCHOS, JEFF DAHL, FACE TO FACE) in front of their mates. The enthusiasm and encouragements of this audience, who has pretty much stayed faithful, pushed them to continue and dig deeper in their powerpunkpop, play more concerts, record a first demo, then a second one and a third one (at this time, the triptych "garage / 4 tracks recorder / tape" was all go), some split EPs and some compilations (see the almost complete discography on the web : http://thebushmen.free.fr ). Selected in 1997 to represent the Limousin region in the big french festival "le printemps de Bourges", the BUSHMEN launch their first EP 4 titles ("QUIET", now out of press) recorded in Brussels. Then, followed the first album "LIFE'S HARD, THEN WE DIE" in 1998 with LOLLIPOP Rds. After few changes in the band (Simon, the drummer, left us to play with SHAGGY HOUND / Steph, the guitarist, left us to work in Paris / Charly, former DACYCO drummer, joined us), the second album "WATCHING NEIGHBOURS" was released in 2000, again with LOLLIPOP Rds. During this period, the band met several other bands (BURNING HEADS, TANTRUM, THUGS, SEVEN HATE, SIXPACK, SAMIAM, SHADES APART, SLOY, TV KILLERS, JEFF DAHL, TEENGENERATE , ...) and played with other up and coming bands like DEAD POP CLUB, FLYING DONUTS, SECOND RATE, ... From 2001 to 2004, the band decided to slow things down (a few rehearsals and a few gigs) cause of the lack of interest in powerpunkpop. Fortunately, after this long hibernation, driven by the music and rythm demon, the BUSHMEN have regular rehearsals, have composed new songs and recorded them in the country, near Limoges, with Alain MIRAUCOURT. A new CD's born, called "WAR AND SODA". "WAR AND SODA" is the first album composed with only one guitar and you can feel it. Sobriety, simplicity, even effectiveness ? Make up your mind, it's up to you. The lyrics mainly talk about the depressing news in the world : Middle East oil war, religious fundamentalism, political demagogies, deliberate servitude, media conformity, ...... But don't worry, in the ordinary life, the BUSHMEN are cheerful people and they hope you'll enjoy watching them on stage !
