LPPA, CNRS / Collège de France, Paris, France, Introduction Time To Contact (TTC) is the time remaining before a moving object reaches an observer or a position in space.

Discussion

 14 participants

 Errors as a function of velocity profile, scene viewing times and tested TTC ?

 Different strategies seemed to be used for TTC estimations as a function of the self-motion’ velocity profile.

 VR application displayed on a 185°curved screen Figure 2 – A schematic model of the experimental setup: the participant seated in front of a 185° curve screen and hold a joystick in his hand.

Question & hypotheses

A 2 (velocity profile) x 3 (scene viewing time) x 3 (tested TTC) ANOVA was applied on the corrected gain (gain / corresponding gain obtained for constant velocity). The errors in self-motion extrapolation slightly increased for accelerations (overestimations) and decreased for decelerations (underestimations), as a function of both scene viewing time and tested TTC (F(2,26)=63.5, p
