View Job Detail Job ID: 31777 Job Title: RESEARCH FELLOW Job/Career Family: Research Fellows The Department of Radiology at the University of Michigan School of Medicine is seeking highly motivated candidates as Postdoctoral Research Fellows for a National Institutes of Health (NIH) training program in imaging science. These fellowships will provide training for physicians, engineers or scientists interested in medical imaging. Possible research areas cover a broad range of imaging disciplines including functional and molecular imaging, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, optical imaging and ultrasound, with imaging applications in radiology, radiation Job Description and oncology, internal medicine, surgery and other medical specialties utilizing imaging. Qualified Responsibilities: persons will have great opportunities to be exposed to clinical, biological and technical environments. This training could be for those individuals with significant background in imaging where the additional training would be in a specific imaging area or an area of basic science that underpins imaging research. Alternatively, the fellowship could be awarded to individuals with degree(s) in a basic science that could contribute to the imaging field with the educational opportunity in medical imaging afforded by this fellowship. This is a two-year program including specific compulsory and individualized didactic components and laboratory research. The qualified candidates can be either an MD completing or having completed residency in a medical specialty with potential utilization of medical imaging or PhD in applied physics, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, physics, molecular biology, or a related field where medical imaging could be used. Previous imaging experience will be considered but the design of this training program is to develop imaging scientists including those with other backgrounds where medical imaging could be used to expand the field. Candidates should be self-starting, independent, motivated to learn and comfortable with both experimental and analytical study.
