ATECMAR – October 2005 The Association for Promotion of Safety at Sea technologies Joël Branchut, new President of ATECMAR At the board meeting of ATECMAR that took place on the 5th of September, 2005, Rear Admiral Jean-Luc DUVAL confirmed his retirement from EADS and consequently offered his resignation to the board both as President of the board. He has been President since February 2004. Mr. Joël Branchut, Vice-President since September 2003, was elected as the new President. The new President and the board deeply thanked Rear Admiral Jean-Luc DUVAL for the outstanding job he did for the Association. Some details about Joël Branchut. He is presently Sales Director of SOFRELOG and has been working for this company since April 2003.. Born in 1951, he first served the French Ministry of Defence, Délégation Générale pour l’Armement, where he was successively in charge of the following posts: - mid 78 to mid 82 : maintenance of Anti Submarine Weapons of the French Mediterranean Fleet based in Toulon, - mid 82 to end of 85 : Deputy then Head of the Weapons and Equipment/Export cell of the “Service technique des Constructions et Armes Navales” in Paris, - 86 and 87 : French JV PRONAV (DCN - THOMSON), in charge of promoting the French Surface Vessels, - 88 and 89 : NATO NFR 90 Project Office in Hambourg (Germany) for the development of the new frigates of the 90s as Assistant Combat System Manager in charge of the technical part of the combat system, - 90 and 91 : THOMSON-CSF, for preparation of the Sawari II contract (Frigate part), - 92 à fin 97 : Head of the « Intégrations et Systèmes de Commandement » directorate at DCN Ingénierie in Toulon, - 98 to mid 2002 : Armament Attaché at the French Embassy in Canberra, Australia. He retired end of 2002 when serving at the International Relations Directorate at DGA in Paris, with the rank of Captain Engineer. He did his engineering at the « Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Etudes et Techniques d’Armement » and he is chevalier de l’ordre national du mérite and chevalier de la légion d’honneur. Joël Branchut is father of four children and grand-father of three grand-children.
