15.0.0 The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) The federal government implemented Title III of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability by public accommodations and requires places of public accommodation and commercial facilities to be designed, constructed and altered in compliance with the accessibility standards established by this act. The Department of Justice published a Code of Federal Regulations designated 28 CRF Part 36 which contains specific requirements to be followed to comply with those regulations This section contains numerous diagrams and dimensional data to illustrate and explain many of the critical areas in building construction that must be made to comply with 28 CRF Part 36. 15.1.0 Dimensions of Adult-Size Wheelchairs
