A WebQuest for 8th Grade French Students of Madame Reiss – inspired by and borrowed from Linda Neely Introduction You and your classmates are going to prepare for a trip across the Atlantic Ocean to Paris, La Ville des Lumières – The City of Spirits – which for hundreds of years has radiated irresistible genius. Paris has a rich, fascinating history, but it's also chic and lively with a blend of ancient and modern culture. To be able to see everything and fully appreciate what Paris has to offer, you need to gather some information. Part I With a partner make a detailed itinerary for a two-day visit to Paris. You will refer to a map of Paris and a map of the Paris métro in order to get a sense of where monuments/sites are located in relation to each other. This will help to make sure your itinerary is logical. You should consider how much you can see in two days, how much time you can spend at each monument and how close the monuments are to each other. Your plan should include an hourly schedule of what you will do and see.

-Research the monuments you will visit: La Tour Eiffel, Le Louvre, Notre Dame, Les Invalides by clicking on the monument on the left hand side of the page.

-Take notes on the reason that each monument/site which you will visit was built. Also write down the métro station and arondissement.

B: Choose a hotel in the 7e arrondissement (Tour Eiffel), find locations for monuments/sites and look up metro routes - Go to the hotel link below to find a hotel located near this monument. http://en.parisinfo.com/where-to-sleep-in-paris/Hotels -Look up routes by clicking on ‘recherche sur le plan’ on the Métro map at http://www.ratp.fr/plan-interactif/ -For day 1, find the best routes between your hotel, La Tour Eiffel, Le Louvre, Notre Dame, and Les Invalides. -Repeat for day 2 – the monuments you will visit on day two are: Musee d'Orsay, Basilique du Sacre Coeur, Centre George Pompidou, Arc de triomphe on Place Ch. De Gaulle - Etoile. C: Write out the plan -Write the plan en français of your 2-day visit in Paris. It should describe where you are going and what you will do.
