ABSTRACT

Integration is an old history. In 1967, Paul Lawrence, professor of Human Relations of the School of Businesses of Harvard, along with Jay Lorsch, treated the organizational problems related to the departmental efficiency and enterprise integration and defined integration like the “state of collaboration that exists between departments that require to reach the union of efforts”.

The present thesis work proposes an application integration model based on open standards, like Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and XML Web Services, which will allow the integration of internal and external (called extended enterprise) applications, which will help to reduce the costs of IT and will increase the agility of the company to respond to changes in the requirements of the business.

According to the evaluation conducted in the present work we concluded that the present state of integration in the companies is very similar to the “accidental architecture”, which represents a rigid infrastructure that is not cohesive and that does not support easily new additions or changes in the integration environments.

The proposed model of integration is conformed by 12 steps that include the modeling of services, these processes provide the steps for the modeling of a SOA conformed by applications, businesses and layers of services, this process

can be considered like a starting point from where you can elaborate one that adjusts to the processes and requirements of business of your organization.
