☒ Gal (2S) Jean ROCHE THALES TRAINING & SIMULATION [email protected] Bio Speaker 1:Colonel VERBORG, today Chief of G3/Airmobile division HQ in Lille, has been gaining, for almost 20 years, a considerable experience in tactical training, as a flight instructor, a UH patrol, squadron as well as battalion commander, and exercised these tactical skills in numerous operations of all type (Bosnia, Africa, Afghanistan…): he will particularly underline the airmobile operations in Libya (operation “Harmattan”) and the role of simulation for the preparation of such operations. Bio Speaker 2: BG(Ret’d) Jean ROCHE, after a 35-year career in the Army Aviation, is today military adviser for THALES TRAINING & SIMULATION in Cergy (France,95). He has been involved for the last ten years in all types of helicopter simulation programs and particularly the Helicopter Mission Trainer developed by TT&S. Abstract (in english) From the very beginning (in the 90’s), the Helicopter Mission Trainer (HMT), called “EDITH” in the French ALAT, was designed to train Crew commanders in tactical skills, and not piloting skills. From initial tactical training in school, it is now used to train also patrol and squadron leaders; it has been fielded in the 3 helicopter regiments and is mainly used for advanced and collective tactical training. The following examples of this today use will be developed: -

The preparation of the operations in Libya (“Harmattan” operation)

-

Collective training at Airmobile Division level, with the 3 Helicopter regiments involved in the same exercise, from their garrisons, during 24 hours (exercise “Persepolis”).

-

Examples of networked combined training: HMT with Leclerc MBT, HMT with Tiger simulator, HMT with OPOSIA (the new training system in the Army Combat Training center in Mailly).

The presentation will end with the presentation of the future developments of the system and new types of employment.
