Sports Cruiser Powering On Powered by a softer version of the Comet’s 647cc liquid-cooled 90-degree V-twin, the Aquila engine has been returned to deliver a much wider spread of power and torque. The GV scores a five-speed gearbox with belt final drive. Second and third gears on the Aquila are higher, and fifth gear is on an overdrive. The Aquila’s rakish. laid-back styling is all Hyosung’s own work. Copious Chrome The Aquila 650 is an excellent build quality featuring copious chrome that is deep and lustrous. the well-padded seat is pretty comfortable by cruiser standards, delivering chilled-out, reclining stance with the footrests not to far forward, matched to the pulled-back handlebar whose angle is just right. Riders should find it equally comfortable, thanks to the adjustable footrests which can be rotated around a 50mm axis to cope with shorter legs, and the seat has bum pad incorporated in it which gives extra support. The engine started instantly and silently each time, with zero vibration even when revved hard. Sports Cruiser There’s a linear build of power, plus a pretty flat torque curve which gives reasonable flexibility for a 650 V-twin. Over 200km/h on the speed, the Aquila wide open on a freeway and sitting normally on the bike. This is a true middleweight performance custom-sportcruising streetfighter, not a slow-revving slugger. The tyres give excellent grip, enough to explore limits of ground clearance on either side, though it’s not the footrests which scrape.
