I hope you have had a wonderful Summer and that you have managed to escape the world for a while and restore your energy.

J'espère que vous avez passé un bel été et que vous en avez profité pour vous évader du quotidien tout en faisant le plein d'énergie.

As Sunreef Yachts celebrates its anniversary I seize this opportunity to reflect on the past in this new edition of the Sunreef News magazine. Looking back at the last 15 years I can say that the shipyard has come a long way. In 2002 I decided to rent production halls in Gdansk, Poland with the idea to build luxury catamarans under the Sunreef Yachts brand. One year had passed and we could finally showcase our first yacht in Monaco. It was Sunreef 74 – the world’s first luxury multihull with a flybridge. This is how our wonderful adventure with yacht building began. Throughout those fascinating 15 years Sunreef Yachts has introduced groundbreaking innovations including the launch of two of the world's biggest sailing catamarans and the world's first transatlantic luxury catamaran. Our road to succes wasn’t easy but was definetly worth the effort. Today, this company employing 450 people and having launched over 100 crafts, makes us extremely proud. Even more so, as we also celebrate the 10th anniversary of Sunreef Yachts Charter. This edition of the Sunreef News Magazine brings back highlights such as the launch of the Sunreef 88 Double Deck, the launch of the newest Sunreef Supreme yachts or the Asia Boating Awards gala. You will also discover the details of Sunreef Yachts new sail range that will see the light of the day in 2018. I hope we will get to meet at the upcomming boat shows in Cannes, Monaco or Fort Lauderdale. In the meantime I wish you a pleasant read.

Sunreef Yachts célébrant son anniversaire, ce numéro du Sunreef News Magazine nous donne l'occasion de jeter un regard sur le passé. En repensant à ces 15 dernières années, je peux dire que le chantier a traversé un long chemin. En 2002 j'ai décidé de louer de halls de production à Gdansk, en Pologne avec l'idée d'y construire des catamarans de luxe signés Sunreef Yachts. Au bout d'un an nous avons enfin pu présenter notre premier yacht au salon de Monaco. C'était un Sunreef 74 - le premier catamaran hauturier de luxe au monde avec un flybridge. Ainsi a commencé cette magnifique aventure qui se poursuit aujourd'hui. Au cours de ces 15 belles années Sunreef Yachts a introduit des innovations qui ont eu un impact extraordinaire sur l'industrie. Le chantier a notamment lancé deux des plus grands multicoques à voile au monde et le premier catamaran transatlantique de luxe à moteur. La route vers le succès pour nous a été longue, mais cela en valait la peine. En observant le chantier aujourd'hui avec 450 employés et plus de 100 mises à l'eau, nous sommes extrêmement fiers. Ce d'autant plus car nous célébrons aussi les 10 ans d'activité de Sunreef Yachts Charter. En lisant ce numéro du magazine vous revivrez avec nous des moments forts, comme la mise à l'eau du Sunreef 88 Double Deck, des nouveaux Sunreef Supreme ou encore le gala Asia Boating Awards. Vous découvrirez aussi les détails de la toute nouvelle gamme des voiliers Sunreef Yachts qui verra le jour en 2018. J'espère que nous aurons l'occasion de nous voir aux salons de Cannes, Monaco ou Fort Lauderdale. En attendant, je vous souhaite une très bonne lecture.

The Sunreef Supreme 68 Sailing is a fully customizable catamaran model. Boasting not less than 300m² of living space and a superyacht aft garage, the Sunreef Supreme 68 catamarans enjoy a spectacular international success. Premiered during the Singapore Yacht Show 2016, this yacht sparked a true revolution in multihull design. This is the shipyard’s fourth consecutive victory at the Asia Boating Awards. Last year’s gala has seen Sunreef Yachts’ success with the 70 Sunreef Power Blue Belly recognized by the jury as Best Motor Multihull. As for 2015 the Sunreef 74 was awarded as Best Worldwide Production Sailing Yacht Above 15m. In 2014 the power catamaran 70 Sunreef Power Damrak II received the award for Best Asia-Based Charter Yacht. 

hile working on this new concept, the shipyard’s designers have been looking for ways to express the spirit of a classic sail yacht through modern marine architecture. As the first drawings were made, the idea became clear. An all-around yacht range for exclusive getaways, charter and transoceanic adventures emerged. Today, the shipyard lifts the veil of secrecy on its all-new sail yacht offer, before it sees a first launch in 2018.

n élaborant le concept de sa toute nouvelle gamme, le bureau d'études du chantier Sunreef Yachts a cherché à traduire l'esprit d'un voilier classique à travers une architecture moderne et sophistiquée. The timing seems to be just about perfect as this year, Sunreef Yachts celebrates 15 years of activity in the industry. With nearly one hundred fullycustomized units launched, including some of the world’s biggest and most innovative leisure multihulls, Sunreef Yachts seizes the opportunity not only to take a look back, but also one to the future.

TAKING LOUNGING TO A HIGHER LEVEL Un niveau de confort supérieur

A new flybridge concept

A couple of stairs up from the cockpit, the flybridge is more than easily accessed. Undeniably the new yachts’ most spectacular feature, the sundeck’s surface was specifically conceived to be the highlight of every model within the range. While housing the main helm, the flybridge is definitely dedicated to leisure with more than enough space for movable furniture, a Jacuzzi, fully-equipped wet bar, a barbecue and large sunpads.

Facilement accessible à partir du cockpit, le spacieux flybridge est sans doute l'un des plus extraordinaires atouts de la nouvelle gamme. Son dessin a été soigneusement travaillé dans tout ses aspects pour donner un maximum de liberté et d'ouverture à chacun des modèles. With a completely fresh superstructure concept, the range gains a saloon plan with an outstanding potential for customization. A vast, central lounging space with a panoramic view and endless layout possibilities, it opens both onto the bow terrace and cockpit. The bow benefits from a cozy lounge, well shielded from sun and wind. To the aft, the saloon merges with the generous cockpit extended with a large aft platform. All the areas combined form a universal, open environment where flexibility and freedom reign.

Grâce à leur superstructure innovante, les nouveaux voiliers de Sunreef Yachts se dotent tous d'un salon avec un énorme potentiel d'habitabilité et de personnalisation. La nacelle abrite un immense espace de détente offrant des possibilités illimités pour un agencement sur mesure du salon ouvrant tant sur le cockpit que sur la terrasse avant. The line’s new bridge deck was astutely designed to maximize the volumes available in the hulls. The range will boast an infinite variety of layouts suitable for both chartered and private boats. Depending on the Owner’s wish, the galley will be either placed down at hull level or seamlessly integrated with the saloon. The hulls provide impressive volumes to set up a custom layout including airy, luxurious guest cabins and an opulent master suite with a walk-in dressing, desk, sofa, retractable TV and an immense bathroom. A perfect setting to unwind and relax after a long day in the sun.

Un nouveau concept du pont permet de maximiser les volumes disponibles dans les coques. La nouvelle ligne de voiliers Sunreef Yachts offrira un éventail infini de modes d'aménagement convenant tant à l'utilisation privée qu'au charter. With four already commissioned, Sunreef Yachts unveiled the range`s first details during the Cannes Yachting Festival 2017, presenting a scale model of a luxurious 60-footer and renderings of the 80-footer due for launch in 2018. 

La nouvelle gamme de voiliers de Sunreef Yachts se composera de 4 modèles en partant d'unités relativement compactes pour aller jusqu’au superyacht. Avec quatre unités déjà commandés, le chantier à décidé de révéler officiellement ce nouveau concept pendant le Cannes Yachting Festival 2017 en présentant une maquette d'un 60 pieds et des images d'un 80 pieds qui devraient voir leur mise à l'eau d'ici 2018. 

Quand à la version hydrofoil, à savoir le 40 Open Sunreef Power H, ce bateau sera proposé dans plusieurs configurations de motorisation hors-bord en partant de 2x627CV jusqu'à 4x400CV. Une fois le seuil des 25noeuds franchis, un système astucieux d'hydrofoils rétractables élève le bateau pour le faire voler au dessus de l'eau. En conséquent, le bateau peut atteindre jusqu'à 60noeuds en survolant les vagues en mode hydrofoil. La résistance étant réduite à un minimum absolu, le bateau profite également d'une autonomie extraordinaire et une consommation extrêmement basse.

The 40 Open Sunreef Power is equipped with dynamic inboard propulsion ranging from 2x425 HP to 2x1100 HP to offer an impressive speed potential of over 60kts. Taking speed to a higher level, the hydrofoil-equipped 40 Open Sunreef Power H is offered in multiple outboard engine configurations from 2x627 HP to 4x400 HP. The innovative retractable hydrofoil system implemented lifts the boat above the water when cruising above 25kts. As a result, the 40 Open Sunreef Power H can glide above the waves to attain speeds up to 60kts in foilborne mode. With the drag reduced to an absolute minimum, the boat also benefits from extremely low fuel consumption and long range.

Sunreef Yachts presented the first open foiling catamaran concept in 2014 during the Cannes Yachting Festival. Since that time company’s engineers and designers have been developing the concept to achieve the world’s most technically advanced multihull luxury speeder available on the market. The longitudinal and transverse stability on this unit is exceptional. As a result, passengers feel comfortable while experiencing a cruise combining gliding on water and flying through air.

NEW CONCEPT

A beamy alternative for classic day boats, the 40 Open Sunreef Power represents a new level of onboard comfort. Two lateral aft folding platforms enhance the already generous living space of the catamaran, creating perfect conditions to enjoy watersports. The volume below the aft sunpad conceals immense storage to keep water toys and diving gear at hand. The helm, fitted with sporty seats is well protected and equipped with a touchscreen to easily scroll through the boat’s systems.

The bow-placed dining area uses the beam of the boat expertly, providing for a maximum of surface with adjustable tables and abundant seating. Depending on the Owner’s wish, this part of the deck can be turned into a comfortable cabin perfect for overnight trips. Big volumes are also available down in the boat’s hulls to house a bathroom, an additional bedroom or utility room. Premium audio-video systems and individually selected tech gear, custom tailored upholstery and new layout solutions – the options to customize the future 40 Sunreef Powers seem limitless. A standard way to proceed for a shipyard that doesn’t have the habit of saying “no” to specific customer demands.

Le volume de rangement sous les bains des soleils arrière donne un accès rapide au jouets nautiques et l'équipement de plongée. Le poste de pilotage est bien protégé et équipé d'écrans tactiles pour contrôler facilement les systèmes du bateau. 

Équipé de tables amovibles, l'espace dînatoire à l'étrave du bateau fait un très bon usage du bau. En fonction des souhaits du propriétaire il peut être également transformé en une grande cabine avec lit double. Des volumes importants sont disponibles dans les coques du catamaran, pouvant abriter une salle de bains, des rangements, soit un couchage supplémentaire. Afin de pouvoir assurer au Sunreef 88 Double Deck sa tenue en mer exemplaire et sa performance, l'équipe d'architectes du chantier a élaboré un nouveau concept incorporant une version sport de la superstructure Double Deck. Le Sunreef 88 Double Deck, comme tout les yachts de cette gamme, se dote d'une mezzanine dans le salon ainsi que d'une cabine armateur dans la partie avant du pont principal, ceci dit il a été pourvu d'une superstructure plus aérodynamique. En résultat, le yacht marie performance et luxe, en proposant une superficie de 300m² et une expérience de navigation étonnante. Flybridge

To achieve the goal of building a seaworthy and dynamic catamaran, Sunreef Yachts' team of naval architects conceived a completely new yacht design, including a sporty version of the Double Deck superstructure. The Sunreef 88 Double Deck, as all yachts within her range features a mezzanine level inside the saloon and a spacious master stateroom with a panoramic view in the bow part of the main deck, although her superstructure was given a much more aerodynamic aspect. As a result, the 88-footer puts the emphasis both on performance and luxury, offering over 300m² of living space and an outstanding sailing experience.

The Sunreef 88 Double Deck is a family yacht. One that puts the accent on comfort and the safety of the children on board. She was ordered by an experienced family of sailors, who were very involved in the project. Throughout the design process my main focus was to imagine a natural and homelike feel, while keeping the interior practical and secure. "Le Sunreef 88 Double Deck est un yacht fait pour la navigation en famille. L'accent est mis sur la sécurité des enfants à bord. Le bateau a été commandé par une famille de plaisanciers avec beaucoup d’expérience et très engagés dans l'évolution du projet. Despite her slightly aggressive look, the Sunreef 88 Double Deck remains a family-friendly yacht offering the best of comfort and safety. The innovative composite superstructure of the yacht conceals a smart and functional layout with luxurious accommodations for 8 guests and up to 5 crew. Upon the Owners' request the decor of the interior features exclusively natural materials. Chambord oak, linen, leather, natural stone and quartz tiles - all contribute to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the yacht. The feeling of warmth was also achieved through applying numerous orange accents to the interior - a very important color for the Owner's family, considering it to be a symbol of energy. 

Kukla’s vast 65m² saloon enjoys a clever and practical layout. Her central lounge comprises a large c-shaped sofa and a transforming coffee/dining table facing a 78” TV. The full-height glazing surrounding the saloon, combined with the bright walls contributes to the luminosity of the room with occasional black and silver gray accents. Sunreef Yachts y a notamment exposé le Sunreef 62 Annette 2 - présenté en première exclusive dans le cadre du salon. Le baptême d'Annette 2 s'est suivi d'une soirée cocktail qui a réuni de nombreux invités de marque. Ce tout nouveau voilier a été présenté aux cotés du Sunreef Supreme 68 Eagle Wings, qui a vu sa première au salon en 2016. Annette 2 a été commandé par M. Anthony Lim - Commodore du Changi Sailing Club - l'un des plus anciens clubs de voile de Singapour. Marin passionné et chevronné il est également un grand ambassadeur local de la marque Sunreef Yachts. Entouré de sa famille et de ses amis, M. Anthony Lim a marqué le début d'une belle aventure avec son nouveau catamaran de luxe en brisant une traditionnelle bouteille de champagne contre le bateau. Le lendemain de sa grande première, Annette 2 s'est rendu en croisière devant le mythique hôtel Marina Bay Sands pour sa session photo officielle.

Her exclusive christening event gathered numerous guests, sparking everyone’s interest in the classy sailing Sunreef 62 catamaran. The all-new yacht was displayed alongside the Sunreef Supreme 68 Eagle Wings, premiered at the Singapore Yacht Show in 2016. Annette 2 is owned by Mr. Anthony Lim who is the Commodore of the Changi Sailing Club - one of the oldest sailing clubs in Singapore. An avid and experienced sailor he is a dynamic and engaged local Sunreef Yachts brand ambassador. Welcoming his Sunreef 62 into Sunreef Yachts’ family of luxury catamarans, Mr. Anthony Lim broke a sacrificial bottle of champagne over the yacht’s stern to mark the beginning of his adventure with his new custom sail yacht. Right after her spectacular premiere, Annette 2 set sail for a cruise by the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel for her official photo shoot.

The calmness that her interiors transmit as well as the new features that make every way of enjoyment possible with the help of her wonderful crew. What kinds of activities are offered on Calmao? Sailing is the most elegant activity with her high-tech sails that will make a very pleasant day sailing at sea, letting the day to day disappear for a while. Water sports or just a picnic at the beach and finishing the day with an amazing BBQ will be a normal day on board Calmao. The crew will make every effort to please every guests’ needs. What is the assortment of water sports accessories on Calmao? Les charters sur Calmao feront également la joie des adolescents qui à leur tour sont des grands amateurs des sports et s'attendent à vivre une belle aventure.

What kind of menu is offered on Calmao? We offer a journey of flavours based on the fresh and healthy Mediterranean cuisine, always adapting the menu according with the different cultures and producing what the local markets offer us. What are your specialties? I have heard that as a true Spanishs person my speciality is Seafood Paella, but I could say that what I enjoy preparing most are vibrant salads, freshly caught fish and colourful breakfasts. How flexible are you with adapting the menu to guests’ individual preferences? My goal is to make every guest feel happy and comfortable. I am very flexible and willing to accommodate any individual tastes or food preferences. How well-equipped is Calmao for high end cuisine? Calmao has three fridges and five freezers to perfectly stow big amount of fresh produces and to let rest the home-made desserts and ice-creams, we also have the latest generation Thermomix, an induction stove and a big size oven to cook beautiful roasts and bake fresh bread. Do you have any culinary tricks for fussy young eaters? I always try to make them feel comfortable, the trick is to look like I am serving the same to every guest but replacing any dislike with something else and keep it secret so they feel good without anyone noticing it.

Quelles sont vos spécialités? Étant espagnole, je me suis laissé dire que je suis spécialiste de la paella aux fruits de mer. Ceci dit, je prends le plus de plaisir à préparer des succulentes salades, du poisson tout frais ou des petits déjeuners de toutes les couleurs. Êtes-vous souple lorsqu'il s'agit d'adapter votre menu aux préférences individuelles des invités? Mon objectif principal est de rendre chaque invité heureux. Je suis très flexible et adapte les menus à leur goûts et préférences. Calmao, est-il suffisamment équipé pour servir une cuisine haut de gamme? Calmao est équipé de trois réfrigérateurs et cinq congélateurs afin de stocker une grande quantité de produits frais et de laisser reposer les desserts et crèmes-glacées faits maison. Nous disposons aussi d'un Thermomix dernier cri, d’une plaque à induction et d’un grand four parfait pour réaliser des beaux rôtis et cuire du pain. Avez-vous des trucs et astuces pour les jeunes mangeurs difficiles? Je fais de mon mieux pour qu'ils se sentent à l'aise. L'idée est de faire semblant de servir les mêmes plats à tout le monde, mais de remplacer quelques ingrédients en toute discrétion.

The yacht features 4 double staterooms with sophisticated interiors dominated by a palette of white and dark blue colours in the starboard hull and a combination of white and turquois in the portside hull. Additionally, Orion offers 1 single port forepeak cabin with direct access to the front guest cabin, which is a perfect solution for parents with a child. For charters with 10 guests, there is an additional single en suite cabin offered for 1 adult in the yacht’s starboard forepeak.

We all had spent a fantastic week onboard In the Wind. […] The crew was on us all the time, making our time peaceful, helpful and nice. We were very spoilt specially our children. One day they even made Sushi, together with the Chef, from tuna fish caught the day before! […] I had also so good sleep because I knew that my daughter was so well attended with the incredible crew. […] Now, back at home, our children are sad, missing them.

The crew was really nice, paying attention to each detail to make our trip a perfect moment. The boat is very comfortable and even with young kids, including one under 2 y-o, we felt safe and could enjoy our journey.[…] It was our first cruise and when I asked my kids if they wanted to spend vacations on a boat again, they said yes, but only with the same crew. I hope we have the opportunity to come again on the 19th Hole.

L'équipage était vraiment sympa et faisait attention à chaque détail pour que notre voyage devienne un moment idéal. Le yacht est très confortable, nous voyagions notamment avec un petit enfant de moins de 2 ans et nous sentions en parfaite sécurité. Nous étions à l'aise et profitions bien de nos vacances. C'était notre première croisière en famille, et quand j'ai demandé à mes enfants s'ils avaient envie d'aller à bord d’un yacht encore une fois, ils m’ont dit oui, mais à condition d'avoir le même équipage ! J’espère que nous aurons encore la possibilité de louer 19th Hole.

Nous avons passé une semaine fantastique à bord d'In The Wind. [...] L’équipage était là pour nous tout le temps et grâce à eux notre séjour était paisible et agréable. Nous avons été gâtés tout au long du voyage, surtout nos enfants. Une fois avec l'aide du Chef ils ont même préparé des sushis avec du thon pêché la veille! [...] De plus, je dormais tranquille sachant que ma fille était entre des bonnes mains. [...] Maintenant que nous sommes de retour à la maison les enfants sont tristes et l'équipage leur manque un peu.

We love having children on board! The yacht is equipped with comfortable lifejackets and all of the necessary safety gear for small children. We are able to create a neat barrier on the aft deck so that walking toddlers and small children aren't able to access the aft or sides of the vessel, although we do strongly encourage children to wear life vests at all times when going outside as safety is a primary concern for the crew. This allows the parents to relax and enjoy their trip knowing that we will do whatever we can to keep their little ones happy and safe. On adore avoir des enfants à bord ! Le bateau est équipé de confortables gilets de sauvetage et tout équipement de sécurité pour les petits enfants. Nous pouvons étendre un filet de sécurité pour isoler l'arrière du yacht et protéger les tout-petits afin qu'il ne puissent pas accéder aux plateformes et aux passavants. Ceci dit, nous encourageons vivement les enfants à porter les gilets dès qu'ils sont à l’extérieur, la sécurité étant une priorité pour l'équipage. Cela permet aux parents de se détendre et de profiter de leur croisière tout en sachant que les enfants sont heureux et en sécurité.

Often parents can be hesitant when it comes to bringing younger children on board the yacht. However, they are always quickly put at ease when they see how well their child sleeps on the boat. As the children get a little older, chances are most of the activities that they will be experiencing with us, like snorkelling, knee boarding, water skiing or wake boarding, are for their first time. Sometimes the biggest challenge with children these days is getting them to put down their phones, iPads, and computers long enough to see where they are and all of the exciting activities they have before them. It usually doesn't take too long, however, before they are outside on the flybridge or jumping off the bow, enjoying in the great outdoors. Les parents hésitent souvent à emmener les jeunes enfants sur un yacht. Cependant, ils se sentent vite rassurés, surtout quand ils voient comme leurs enfants dorment bien à bord. Les enfants un peu plus âgés, peuvent s'initier aux sports et pratiquer la plongée, la planche à genoux, le ski nautique ou le wakeboard avec l'aide de l'équipage. Le défi consiste parfois à convaincre les enfants de poser leurs tablettes et smartphones le temps de regarder autour de soi et se rendre compte des activités qui s'offrent à eux. D'habitude cela ne prends pas beaucoup de temps et il se retrouvent très vite sur flybridge ou sur l'étrave à plonger dans l'eau.

Children enjoy boating immensely and we always encourage them to discover new boundaries while making them aware of potential dangers. In spite of parents’ understandable anxieties about bringing children on a sailing yacht, children have a very high sense of their limits and we have often observed them pausing before doing something that may harm them. To us children aboard add a new level of satisfaction to our job, as we witness their joy in new discoveries and their fascination and appreciation of natural beauty. Boating is a safe vacation spiced with excitement and discovery for a child, something that will enrich and stay with them for life.

Les enfants adorent les vacances en mer. Nous les encourageons à la découverte tout en les sensibilisant aux potentiels dangers. En dépit des craintes des parents qui hésitent à faire monter leurs enfants sur un voilier, les enfants ont une très bonne conscience de leur limites. Prudents, ils s’arrêtent souvent pour évaluer le danger avant de se lancer dans une activité qui pourrait leur nuire. Pour nous, la présence d'enfants à bord est une source de satisfaction et donne un sens particulier à notre travail. Nous avons la chance d'observer leur joie, leur découvertes, leur fascination et admiration pour la nature. Naviguer, pour eux c'est l’expérience d'un séjour enrichissant, rempli de joie et de belles découvertes dont ils garderons un souvenir à jamais.
